Sam's Tire Center damaged valve stem they installed

Thanks. Yes, this is my worry by going back there. I'll just leave it be.

Sam's Tire Center damaged valve stem they installed

So I just went to rotate and check pressure in my tires. These are new tires that Sam's in Denver installed a few months ago. They installed four new tires and at my request four new TPMS sensors with new valve stems. I didn't check them out too close after they installed them. Today I'm...

    Syntec 5W-30 3.7k miles / 2008 Subaru Forester X 2.5L 144k miles

Yep, I understand the filtration mechanics and no argument there. The manual says every 30k miles or “replace sooner in extreme or dusty condition.” I changed it at a shorter interval due to certain conditions I operated in mostly over the summer and how dark it was holding against the sun...

    Syntec 5W-30 3.7k miles / 2008 Subaru Forester X 2.5L 144k miles

Sure, but I'm not interested in extended oil change intervals which is also why I don't test TBN. About every 3,750mi (manufacturer severe service schedule) is cheap insurance for me on this old gal. As mentioned in the post I replaced the engine air filter. It was very dirty. All connections...

It’s possible, but I’m not sure.

Installed new fog lamp assemblies - 2008 Subaru Forester 2.5X

I just wanted to follow-up on these TYC fog lamps I installed a year ago. About five months after installing them the left fog lamp seal failed and the inside filled with water which prematurely killed the bulb. I warranty replaced it via rockauto no problem. Then about 11 months since original...

    MicroGard MGL57712 product source change

This appears to also be sold as a MicroGard Select MSL51365.

    MicroGard MGL57712 product source change

Had this been a Wix made MicroGard I would agree, but this new one seems quite nice. I’m happy to run it.

    MicroGard MGL57712 product source change

Yeah I think these are Premium Guard products. Interestingly though the Autozone house brand appears to be Premium Guard for my application as well, but the product looks different and is made in China. See: STP S4615 and the PG4615.

    MicroGard MGL57712 product source change

Hey gang, I dropped by O'Reilly's today to pick up a new oil filter for my Subaru. I had been using the MicroGard Select MSL57712 which is a really nice product and a great deal if you're buying on an oil change deal. They were out of those today, but had the standard MicroGard MGL57712. The...

    1/2” Torque wrench recommendation

Seems luck of the draw with mass production low cost chinese stuff. I had a 3/8 Pittsburgh torque wrench fail after about one year too. It just completely stopped clicking anywhere in the bottom quarter of its torque range. I’ve had a lot of perfectly adequate tools from HF, but (for myself)...

    1/2” Torque wrench recommendation

Hey gang, Well, my Harbor Freight 1/2” torque wrench has failed me in a large way. I overtightened a bolt recently and discovered it’s either completely broken or just way waaaaay out of calibration. I rarely use it and have only owned it for two years. Instead of going as cheap as possible...

Subaru OEM filter opened - SOA 6351520815

Seems to me these new "temporary" SOA filters aren't anything special and this sure has been a very long run for it being temporary. In fact I'm suspicious they're just the same product Champion Labs produces for SuperTech... SuperTech ST6607 vs. SOA6351520812 and ST7317 vs. SOA 6351520815. I'm...

    Tire repair: plug or plug+patch

Do you folks find DIY tire plugs to be a permanent solution or just a temporary fix to buy time to get to a tire shop for a plug + patch? I’ve read with most plugs being vulcanizing now-a-days that they are more of a permanent fix than plugs of the past. What say you, BITOG?
