My 11 Elantra runs slightly quieter and smoother on 5W30 over 20. I ran 5W20 for the first 25K then switched because I got both vehicles on the same oil and schedule.

Do the valve cover gasket and replace the pcv valve both should require minimal money and effort. That should also slow down oil consumption.

Are you still running E85 or was it a one time deal? What were your results? If you really want to increase performance on your Focus you might look into a ecu tune. There are several companies out there who have been tuning Foci for a while
