Wanted to mention the friend that has the '07 did the treatment with B-9 and a 24 hour soak. His oil burn went from >1 qt/400 mile to < 1/4 qt per 500 mile. This is with mostly highway driving - little start/stop of the engine since they're rural. He would top the oil off every two days...
Correction:
"All years of the Prius had oil usage problems."
It's the nature of the beast. When you start/stop an an engine 20-50 times a drive vs. once, things get wonky.
My solution to the oil color issue was to not change it for 40,000 miles. I added about 20 qts of oil as needed...
