    Wood Deck Question

Get a sprayer and fog the snot out of that dry azz wood. You need to be doing that 100 plus year old farmer's trick. 50/50 Diesel and used motor oil. Spray it on all your exterior wood. Fencing, chairs and decks. It will keep your wood like new if done every other year. Great way to recycle...

    1972 motor and modern oil?

I would run SAE 30w in the summer and a 10W-30 in the winter. Anything under 50 degrees F needs a 10W oil. Remember this is an AIR cooled engine guys. Same as a lawn mower for example. Far as using an old oil, forget it. You can't find one anyway. If you do it will be sky high in price. Keep...

Building my own shed with patio

I love the shed. Great build and professional looking. I agree with it all. I just wouldn't want to live next to it. Our HOA wouldn't allow this anyway. And let's not get into HOA's which I despise terribly. Never have another house with HOA control.

Building my own shed with patio

Neighbors are going to love, looking at that, every day. Next that salad bowl lawn needs a ton of love. Trees are all overgrown. Any permits pulled for this job?

Significant lesson learned using TDS hardness water tester

Nothing on TV or what? No honey-do chores? Grass need cutting? Slow day testing water.

Best thing to use are lava stones. Get them from janitorial supply houses.

Water shutoff connection for blow out

Guys, regular silver duct tape has been around for decades upon decades. Fixed a trillion items so far and counting. It's more than sticky enough for most all fixes.

Simple 2x4's and some 16 penny nails. It ain't the space program people......

    Gas water heaters are expensive

My house was built in 1977. Have two 50 gallon hot water tanks. One tank for the West wing and the other for the East wing. Never had one expansion tank nor needed them. Yes I have a closed system. Never had any hot water surges from cracking the hot water open from this demonic excess pressure...

    Foundation crack on the outside.

All that is would be a little portland cement and water. No need to buy anything at the store. Unless you are out of portland.

    Building A Patio Overhang Structure

If you have some that have lasted 40 plus, why not use the same thing again? At least keep that option on the table. Plastic (poly) dries out, fades and warps. Not an enduring product in my book.

Thompson's water seal ... how to thin?

50/50 mix of used motor oil and Diesel. 100+ year old farmer's trick. Great way to recycle the used oil. Bugs don't like it. Wood will last indefinitely if resprayed in a few years. Forget Tommy juice. Way too expensive anyway.

    Home HVAC filters

We use a HEPA stack and MERV 18 filters. We like clean air in our house.

    Building A Patio Overhang Structure

What is the warranty on poly or plastic panels? They tend to warp over time in the heat. Look pretty poor in a few years.
