I started using Chevron Supreme 10w30 about 3 months ago in my high milage Volvo. I've never really had any cold start issues with my previous oil (Valvoline Maxlife 10w30), but the Chevron has been providing good sounding cold starts down to 3F.

Same here....My `93 240(B230F) also has Volvo's 100k timing belt, although I don't let it go that long before replacement. I read an article a while ago that said that most timing belt failures occured at idle or low RPMs. The article claimed that timing belts are under more stress at idle...

I have an inexpensive magnetic drain plug in my Volvo 240($3.50+shipping from FCPGroton). The Volvo has an steel oil pan and the magnet on the cheapo plug is so strong that it makes installation challenging. I can't imagine that any $20 magnetic plug is going to be that much stronger.

I'm doing 3k OCIs on Chevron Supreme 10w30, but most of my commute is stop-and-go. I would consider stretching it to 4k if I drove more highway miles.

Yup, that is some good advice. I practice this and the super-cheapo Chinese made rotors on my Volvo are still in great shape after almost 3yrs/50k miles. Speaking of non-warping rotors, check this out... Frozen Rotors.com Kind of expensive and a bit unconventional, but very interesting.

I saw Mobil DC+ on the shelves at a local Kmart several months ago for about $2.29 per qt.. At the time I was using Maxlife, but I've always liked Mobil products and was very tempted to buy it. Then I found this site, read about Chevron Supreme, and never looked back.

I know some would disagree, but I consider myself a prime canidate for frequent OCIs w/dino oil(10yr old high mileage vehicle, 70mi per day, mostly stop&go, cold winters, ect) I work for an automotive shop, so oil changes are made much easier with access to lifts...

I've never seen 5w40 Syntec on the shelves here in the US. The only places I know of that stock it are VW/Audi dealers(VW Part#ZVW352540S).

I've been using Shell Rotella T 5W40 in our `03 Golf 2.0. I did start using M1 5W30 but switched to Rotella to save some $$. (4-5k OCIs) If I had to use a dino, Chevron Supreme 5W30 would be at the top of the list.
