Blood shortages: are there any in your area?

'53: Don't know if you heard Marty Griffin on KDKA this morning, but he had an official from Vitalent (new name for the Blood Bank), and the current status of the blood supply in Pittsburgh is really bad as you noted. Very few younger people are donating now. Vitalent spent $20 million on...

    Generator Engine

Sorry, I missed that you said you had spark. Glad you were able to get things resolved.

    Generator Engine

Like CT8 said, check the operation of the oil safety switch. You can bypass it. Basically, it grounds out the ignition if it decides the oil is too low. I had to replace mine and that brought it back to life.

    NFL week 1

Stillers if they could make sure the right team gets on the bus. There's a lot of potential if they get things to gel. Don't look very sharp tonight though.

    Great time at Pirates game

Some useless trivia in regards to the French fries on the sandwiches -- that was started by a restaurant called Primanti Brothers on Smallman Street in the Strip district. They opened around midnight for the overnight truck drivers who were delivering produce to the warehouses across the street...

    Great time at Pirates game

Was at my optometrist's office today where he had a photo history of the Pittsburgh Pirates ballparks. Forbes Field was 1909 to June 28, 1970; Three Rivers was July 16, 1970 to demolition on February 11, 2001, and PNC Park was opened on March 31, 2001. Was only in Forbes Field once that I...

    Those living in Pa.

Check the website www.pure-gas.org. They list the majority of ethanol-free stations by state. They have Apple and Android apps available too. I can't vouch for the completeness or accuracy of their content.

    Advise for sp3 replacement

I have an 04 XG350 and went with the Maxlife last year. Research on the Hyundai forums showed it to be the preferred option. Drain and fill was super easy. Four quarts drain, four quarts back in. Drain plug is very easy to access on the bottom of the pan.

    Avalanche front wheel bearing hub

I've seen videos where guys have used the power steering to press the bearing out of the knuckle, but I'd be afraid I'd burst a line or worse trying that with all the rust on mine. At least you know what to expect for the other one now.

    Avalanche front wheel bearing hub

Hope you don't live in the rust belt as they can be a pain to replace. Also, you should plan on replacing the other front in the near future since it will most likely start failing soon too. If my memory serves me correctly, the factory uses Loctite on the hub bolts, so some well applied heat...

    Garage Door Opener Malfunction

Most of those new meters use RF to transmit readings to the vehicle the meter reader is driving. How close is the meter to your garage? How close are your neighbors' meters to your garage? You might have a situation where the meter is overpowering the frequency that the remote openers are using...

Grocery shopping: where do you shop?

We used to have Krogers in Pittsburgh but they left years ago due to a disagreement between management and the union. If you know where the new Carvana and Top Golf is near Bridgeville, there was some talk a while ago about a Wegman's going in there. That would change the game with Giant Eagle.

    Help with parasitic draw?

Do you have any aftermarket radio equipment? I had a satellite radio/iPhone converter wired in that never fully went to sleep, so it was draining the battery every couple of days. It was wired per their directions but something was causing a section of it to continually drawing current.

    I Miss Diving Boards.

I'm on the Board of an HOA outside of Pittsburgh, so I see a lot of the background on decisions related to community assets like pools. We have a large pool (260,000 gallons to fill, 3-1/2' to 10' at its deepest). We used to have both high and low boards, but both were removed over ten years ago...
