no problems in my 03 stang...no leakage or anything else. as on now ford still uses that gold/yellow stuff. none of the people on www.mustangworld.com have had any problems...nor do those on www.f150online.com.
maybe the ford fluid is a bit different???
Mobil 1 Synthetic 75W140 meets all ford specs...if you have a trac-loc, then you will need a bottle of ford friction modifier added to the mobil 1.
mobil 1 does have friction mod in it, but it is recommended that you put the ford stuff in, too.
Thanks for your response...
No proof that the synthetics case problems, but that doesn't help my mind rest...
Is there any way we can try to get to the bottom of this debate between Tremec and Red Line?
Be nice to dispell a myth...
Been quite a debate, lately. Tremec recommends GM Synchromesh, DexronIII/Mercon V, and Mobil 1 ATF, and claims that Red Line D4 ATF and other synthetics will actually destroy the blocker adhesives in most of their transmissions (T3650).
Red Line claims there is absolutely no proof of D4 causing...
I have a 2003 Mustang GT and I only use Red Line 5W30 in the engine...did this since new.
Before than I had a 2001 F-150 with the same 4.6L SOHC, and I ran Red Line 10W30.
IMO, it is the best protection you can buy for your engine.
In my manual transmission, which will protect better during high heat applications?
GM Synchromesh is thicker and a blend and Mobil 1 is thinner and a full synthetic.
This is going in my T3650 (2003 Mustang GT).
