Rob_Roy - At home my truck is in a heated garage, at work it is outside but plugged in for 3 hours before starting. The 5W40 has been great, I think the coldest I had to start it not plugged in was -24C (-11F) and I had good oil pressure right away.
Hello. I have a new to me 2009 Duramax with 45,000Kms. All winter I have been running T6 5W40. Just wondering if I should switch to Rotella 15W40 for the summer months, or keeping with the T6 5W40 is fine? In the summer I will be doing some towing, but nothing really over 4000Lbs. I have easy...
Operating conditions would be considered extensive idling and short trips. DFP is still installed and truck would be considered "stock". Oil was changed only because I sell the stuff and I like changing oil! Next time will be an 8000km OCI. OLM read 67%
2K2AcuraTL,
Thanks for the reply. I will have a UOA for PP posted early this week. I was happy with the PP, no real start up noise, and as you mentioned, the oil on the dipstick was still a golden color after 7500kms (40% or so on OLM) I did another fill of PP as I had enough for it. Can't wait...

I got a call back from a fleetguard rep today. The LF16104 does have a different media than the LF3945 but the lady was very specific that the media in the LF16104 was not "stratapore" but rather a "glass matt" or something like that. I asked her to email me the spec's on both filters. Going off...
I'm on the fence between PP 5W30 or Castrol 0W30. Winter is coming, the worst this OCI is going to see is maybe -20C the next one will see the worst of Canadian winters where it will be -30C some nights... Thoughts?
Sorry, I guess that my post was a little deceiving. I don't actually shake the oil for one hour with a machine or anything, I just physically shake them by hand before I start an oil change (maybe 10 seconds each) then about an hour later after things have drained I pour in the new stuff. The...
