Just to liven things up a bit. I'm using a 10w60 in my 748 & 900SS. They like it. Especially the 900SS when the weather's hot.

UNless the reduced friction causing your clutch to slip is allowing more horses getting to your back wheel.

Depends on the engine and what work has been done to it but most they reduce.

Which is another reason I rejected it although I did think of chucking a bottle in the mix for curiosities sake. Might do that on the next oil change.

Thanks That's why I'm here, to try and find out. I had initially surmised additives but the way the gear change suddenly got notchy now leads me to think viscosity. The behaviour of the bikes over the long term with the 10w60 will be interesting. I ride as long as the roads are clear for snow...
