    Oil pressure sensor question

Yeah I never gave it thought until I bought this setup. Well the oil system is partially sealed from the oil pump compressor to the exits holes on the bearings and cam shafts. In that area it’s pressurized varying amounts. But I did figure out I bought the wrong sensor type. I need a “gauge”...

    Oil pressure sensor question

It reads absolute pressure, or at least it’s capable of. Out of the box it will read 14.7 psi of oil pressure with the engine off. You have to calibrate the gauge so it reads 0 PSI at your current altitude/pressure. What I’m trying to figure out is if this sensor will read oil pressure...

    Oil pressure sensor question

Okay so I’m installing an aftermarket oil pressure sensor/gauge. The pressure sensor reads absolute pressure, from 0 psi to 145 psi. With the gauge it’s possible to calibrate it so it reads 0 psi at sea level, as opposed to 14.7 psi. My question is when I’m at altitude say 7000 feet, will the...

What is a good aftermaket brand for CV boots?

I'm trying to replaced cracked, but still sealed CV boots on a 2010 Civic Si (K20 engine). I usually replace rubber parts with OEM brand, but OEM CV boots for this car are discontinued. So what brand have you found last a good amount of time before cracking? NAPA boots any good? Thanks.

    Quaker State 5w30 SP

I’m curious about the durability of this oil. It might be great new, but lose performance quickly. Still serviceable if used within normal service intervals, just not producing these outstanding numbers after 5000 miles. I’ve been running this oil on my k20. I have an oil temp/pressure gauge...

    ACN91 (Arizona, California, & Nevada 91 Octane)

Sorry for the old thread bump, but I think I figured out why ACN91 is of lower quality, but still gets the 91 rating. My guess is it has to do how the different test methods affect gasoline that uses ethanol as an octane booster. To get research octane, all they do is raise compression in the...

Rattle after oil change that lasts for weeks

Thanks for the replies fellas. I think I found what it is; the timing chain tensioner. The timing on the chain is off by a little bit (pics included).I guess new and cold oil makes the chain and tensioner rattle. The car has 57,000 miles, so I’m hoping it’s just the tensioner. I’ll try changing...

Rattle after oil change that lasts for weeks

The engine in question is a DOHC 2.0L in a 2010 Civic Si. Every time I change the oil I get this rattle during low speed driving at around 2500 RPM, and when changing gears; when I re-engage the clutch. It happens when the engine is cold, and with new oil. After the oil has been in the engine...

New Mobil 1 Racing 0W30 VOA

I think this oil will be fine for street driven engines. The “track only” recommendation has to do with emissions. But honestly I think FS 0W40 would be better as an upgrade; it’s way cheaper. A lot of engines that call for a 30 weight oil in the US, will have 40 weight and A3 oil...

EBC Plain Rotors vs Centric Plain Rotors

So I need to do a full brake service (rotors, pads, fluid) on my car, and I chose Centric Premium plain rotors. But when I got them I saw that they were made in China. Nothing againts China, but I would preffer brakes made in the US/Europe/Japan. So I ordered some EBC Premium plain rotors. When...

Denso Long Life Iridium vs NGK Laser Iridium

Denso long life has a 0.7 mm electrode and NGK Laser Iridium has a 1.0 mm electrode. JCWhitney has the densos for 5 bucks each. I searched for a promo code on Google, and got 4 for $17 shipped.

Scratches on spark plug ground electrode

I scratched my spark plugs' ground electrode using the gaping tool. The one with the wire. Are they safe to use? Will they cause hot spots and knock/detonation/pre-ignition? I sanded the outside of the ground electrode a little bit to remove the sharp edges from the scratches, but there are...

    What if jack stands fail?

Working underneath a car is no joke. You're literally looking at death in the face. My question is, would putting tires underneath the car work as a last ditch fail safe? Would you need the wheel with the tire, or would a tire on its own work? I have never had an accident, but it is quite scary...
