I'm currently running the Redline Shockproof heavy as well. I'm happy with it but have read some good comments about the Spectro. I like trying out different oils to see how my bike likes them...
Thanks for the replies! I noticed recently that I have a leak from the primary and will be opening it up soon to have a look. I'd like to find the source of the bits on the drain plug.

Just thought I'd give another update regarding primary chaincase oils. I recently switched back to the 10W40 Amsoil mc engine oil in my primary. I was a little concerned about the junk on the magnetic drain plug after running the ATF. Anyway, I did an oil change today and found a bunch more...
Late last riding season I decided to try out ATF in the primary of my 2000 FXD and have put on a few miles this season so far. I decided to dump it out yesterday and have a look at the oil and the magnetic drain plug. My first impression was how thin the oil looked draining out. When I looked at...
I've got a 2000 FXD and am currently using a 75W90 gear oil from Amsoil. I see that Amsoil is now offering an SAE 190 gear oil and was wondering if this would be too thick for my application. I haven't tried the Severe Gear 75W140 yet but will likely try that out. I've found that once the...
I recently switched to ATF in the primary of my FXD. I've found the shifts are a little smoother. It feels like the plates separate better with the ATF versus the 10W40 mc engine oil I was using previously.

Hey,
Thanks for the response! That is kind of what I was thinking. I noticed that it said on the bottle to check your fuel filter so perhaps it dislodged something like you mentioned.
Thanks,
Sean

Hi,
I recently added a serving of Lube Corp.'s octane booster to my fuel (99 Silverado). Within a couple of days my "Check engine" light came on. I had the code scanned and it came back as a multiple, random cylinder misfire (it sounds scary but I haven't experienced any decrease in performance...
Hi all,
I just thought I'd give you an update. I switched over to the universal Amsoil ATF a few days ago and have noticed some improvements in terms of shifting. I would guess that the clutch pack is separating better because the shifts seem to take less effort and neutral is even easier to...
Hi guys,
Thanks for the input. I appreciate it...
Master,
My clutch is in the primary so it is a wet clutch as well. I recently read on a Harley forum that guys were liking the effects of running ATF in the primary, but thought I'd check it out here first.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience with using a synthetic ATF in the primary of a big twin HD. I am currently using Amsoil's 10W40 MC engine oil in my primary but have read that ATF would potentially be a more suitable choice.
Thanks,
Sean
