    Youtube Oil Experts

While we're ranting on YouTube another thing helping with demise of the platform are the YouTube Shorts. I get that they had to compete with the TikTok's of the world, but the majority of the content is just plain Brain rot. Hate to generalize, but the younger generation seem to have the...

What are you working on today?

I don't have time so I am having a trusted local independent repair shop install my Acuity short throw shifter and cable bushings on my 23 Civic Type R. They will also drain & fill my manual transmission fluid while they're in there. (Amsoil Synchromesh Manual Transmission Fluid)

post your latest transmission lubricant change.

My 23 Civic Type R is currently at a local shop having an Acuity 4-way adjustable shifter installed along with upgraded shift cable bushings. Since they will have to remove the airbox to get to the bushings I'm having them do a drain and fill on the manual transmission fluid although its only...

    Which tire protectant?

I don't use many Chemical Guy products but Valvoline Restore and Protect is one that I have used. It's not bad and a little goes a long way. Use as little as you can to get the desired result. x

Brake pad recommendation // FL5 Civic Type R

I like the OEM pads fine but they dust up pretty bad. I'm looking for a pad that won't dust quite as bad without sacrificing performance. I get it .. you're going to have to deal with brake dust on a performance brakes application. To this point the car has been driven rather tamely. I'm at...

Brake pad recommendation // FL5 Civic Type R

BITOG team, It's almost time for me to replace my front brake pads on my 23 Civic Type R. I'm looking for recommendations for replacement pads for the front Brembo brakes. I use the car mostly on weekends and enjoy ripping up some twistys from time to time. I've done the AI thing to see what...

    Oil for 2006 Honda CR-V?

My beater 06 Civic with 180,00 miles on the clock had an unknown maintenance history when I got it. I am running Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w30 and it is running as smoothly & quietly as ever. Valvoline Restore and Protect is known to help with cleaning piston rings & varnish so that would...

    2017 Rav4 Oil Burning Chronicles

Very solid plan of attack. Thanks for the post. My nephew worked a Toyota master tech for years and now works for Toyota corporate. It always amazed him how some customers thought you can basically bolt the hood down, ignore the mechanics and because it was a Toyota it would run forever.

Post your latest oil or filter purchase

I went to Walmart near my work expecting to see a very sparce selection of motor oil, but to my surprise the shelf was well stocked. Considering the situation in the middle-east I bought three 5-quart jugs of Mobil 1 ESP 0W-30 and one 5-quart jug of Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w-30. With...

Buy Oil Now! - per Lake Speed Jr

Despite the average American household consisting of just over three people, most families feel compelled to drive larger SUVs or crossovers, for the perceived safety and space over actual necessity. Clearly the cost of gas or fuel economy is not top of mind.

I’m inflicted with the sickness as well. If I find myself near a Walmart I’ll probably pickup a few more jugs. Two cars to maintain.

For me and with ANY tire dressing I think the secret is ... less is more.
