WBAL TV Baltimore: Speed cameras to start enforcement in I-95 work zone.

As far as court decisions and legislative policies, those vary by state. Some have rejected camera-based enforcement as not constitutional, or at least not desirable, and some have rubber-stamped the practice. It would most likely take a federal Supreme Court decision to settle the issue...

WBAL TV Baltimore: Speed cameras to start enforcement in I-95 work zone.

Irrelevant. The federal constitution sets limits on what "we the people" and the states can decide to do. "We the people" have no right to deny anyone the right to confront the witnesses against them in court. This is enshrined in the 6th Amendment, which is the supreme law of the land and...

WBAL TV Baltimore: Speed cameras to start enforcement in I-95 work zone.

If parked at an expired parking meter there is a human witness (a parking enforcement officer) who can testify that they actually witnessed your vehicle parked in a specific place at a specific time and the meter had expired. That witness can be confronted and questioned in court if you believe...

WBAL TV Baltimore: Speed cameras to start enforcement in I-95 work zone.

A legal fiction. If the vehicle is "charged" with the traffic violation then logically the vehicle should "pay" the traffic violation, which of course is not possible. Such provisions should be void for vagueness on their face. Of course state and local governments use all manner of legalistic...

What about the right of a person accused of a crime to confront the witnesses against him or her in open court, as guaranteed by the 6th Amendment in the U.S.? No problem if pulled over by the police and ticketed, but a speed camera??

    Going To The Dark Side

Well I guess I'm the purple with orange polka-dots bubble - I have a Linux phone. I prefer something that is as free as possible from the tech giants and is under my own control - and don't care about running Android and iOS type "apps".

Are you using a 4k TV yet?

"Are you using a 4K TV yet?" No, in fact we're still using CRT sets. At the moment I have a 19" Samsung set playing an episode of "The X Files" in the background. (Well, you asked!)

Most Fuel-Efficient Cars (That Aren't Electric or Hybrid) -CARandDRIVER

I owned one. They don't, not in real driving conditions with the little 2-stroke engine screaming its guts out in a hopeless attempt to keep up with traffic. Maybe driving at 25 mph on level ground with a good tail wind you'd get that kind of mileage. Mine only did about 30 mpg or so.

U.S. clears way for truly driverless vehicles without steering wheels

Yet another assumption. The record of today's mass-produced cars being expensive nightmares to repair when they develop electrical and computer problems out of warranty suggests otherwise. (Also a Prius is not "cheap" and repairs can be VERY expensive, exceeding the value of the car, when they...

U.S. clears way for truly driverless vehicles without steering wheels

You're making another assumption. I carry a half million dollars in liability insurance because I do have assets. That amount of insurance is well above the legal minimum and it is not really all that expensive. (Insurance can be costly of course if you have a poor driving record or are a very...
