How does "Universal" CVT fluid work?

Castrol CVT fluid has been working better than OEM on my girlfriend's Nissan rogue. If it meets your spec, use with confidence. My guess is that the new Honda spec is probably lower viscosity so they say they are incompatible, when in reality the only detriment would be a bit of fuel economy loss.

ATF that meets many spec's: How can it?

I'm now a fan of multi ATF products. With the possible exception of euro manufacturers, I think most OEM's spec relatively low quality ATF that is not fully synthetic. They tend to degrade fairly quickly. One example I can think of is with my girlfriend's Nissan Rogue. I always used Nissan NS2...

Is Castrol Edge 0W40 qualify as Dexos2 ?

I agree with edyvw. If you plan on occasionally going to the track, just use Castrol 0w40 year round.

    Wix 51223XP (BMW)

I've always used Mann filters on my BMW and VW. They always come out looking like new after. Never any tearing or waviness. Hard to see how there could be an improvement on them (other than price).

    BMW 5W30 -- 17K Miles -- 13 BMW 335i w/ N55

The oil held up surprisingly well. Do you do mostly highway miles? Still, I would back off to 10k miles since even BMW knew 15k was pushing it.

Oil 101 - Revised and Expanded Chapter 2

The impression I get when reading this is that a 0wXX oil would always protect better than a 10wXX oil would. While true for extremely low temperatures, wouldn't the thicker oil protect better above ~0 deg. F until up to operating temp?

    Oil level markings

Not all are a quart. I would just add 1/2 a quart, and check it again the next day.

Audi Broken Oil Control Rings - Why???

Didn't the VW cars (GTI, Tiguan, CC, etc.) of those years have the same engine? I never seem to hear about them having the same issues that the Audi's did.

    VW G 055 540 A2 Compatible ATF?

I know all about Aisin. But this transmission just came out in 2014, at least in VW's. And it came out with a new ATF from VW as well. Why would they make a new fluid if the 10 year old stuff is fine? I also disagree with your assessment of AT's. They are under more stress than ever with...

    VW G 055 540 A2 Compatible ATF?

VW G 055 540 A2 is a newer spec designed for the new 09g gen 2 transmission. I can't imagine that these 10 year old formulations such as MaxLife and Toyota WS are completely suitable. That's why I went with the OEM fluid.

    VW G 055 540 A2 Compatible ATF?

I was wondering the same thing as OP when I changed my ATF. I ended up just buying the OEM fluid though. Would be curious to see if the Toyota fluid is as good.
