I know BMWTurboDzl, but I only wrote that the approvals and MSDS are different so I decided to choose 0W-40 instead of 5W40.

I did some research and narrowed down my choices to two motor oils. 10,13$/1l - Shell Helix Ultra 0W40 SP (5W40 does not contain 157707-86-3) 14,19$/1l - Mobil 1 ESP X4 0W40 SP, SQ Shell is cheaper but Mobil 1 did update and use newer (modern) additive package, as they claim. Still not...

I was looking on VW511.00 oils and there are only few, but Mobil 1 ESP X4 0W40 seems good by MSDS. Mostly same as Mobil 1 FS 0W40.

Yes I can, Gen2 too, but for higher price and from regenerated oils.

No I don't, I only read some treads on this forum and some people have more oil consumption with this Shell and they switched to Mobil 1 FS 0W40 with less oil consumption. Mobil 1 is was my No.1 choice but Ravenol, LM and other seems good too.

I don't said that :) I just mentioned it, because TSI engines are known about oil consumption. Thank you for tips for cheaper but good stuff.

edyvw: Shell Helix 5W40 PP is GTL with Napthenic (no PAO and esters?) - Price is 2x lower than Ravenol or LM, same with ELF and Total (they are HC without PAO base). Hope that price is relative to base oil and additive package, in most cases. I found threads about more oil consumption with this...
