It's an old school diesel, 15w-40 is the preferred oil your manual's chart chart even shows for above 30 degrees which will be the vast majority of your use it looks like
im liking those zinc/phos lvls wouldnt mind running this in my 12 valve, using the delvac extreme 15w-40 synthetic now which is probably its direct competitor along with t6 15w-40, whats the pricing looking like? I would assume it will be around the 20-22$ per gallon like the delvac xtreme
It seems they have switched again? Started noticing this new bottle online and just saw it in store for the first time today. Anyone recognize the logo on bottom?
I wonder whats in this bottle? is it the gen 2? This looks different than the one on valvoline website but it is what the latest ones I bought at tractor supply look like.
Anyways I will be looking for a new oil for my 12v not interested in the lower zinc and phos levels.
First gen 12v cummins dodge pickups 89-93, ushered in the era of turbo diesel in pickups and probably saved the dodge pickup line from extinction. The 12v is arguably the greatest pickup truck engine of all time.
I am using Optilube XL and will switch to the winter one when this gallon is gone, I use it in conjunction with a cetane booster additive like stanadyne or currently Peak Blue diesel boost that I got a bunch of at TSC on clearance.
I'm not sure how much of a difference I notice because I have...
Yea I would do the clutch for sure esp at 178k. If you are dropping a tranny for a throwout bearing or internal slave you might as well put a new clutch in while you've got it out. The internal slave on my ranger went out and I threw a new clutch in it to even though everything looked ok.
