Traveling and can't always fill up with Top Tier Fuel

I try to put Exxon or Shell in every tank, then other major brands, but sometimes when you travel there just isn't a name brand around. No big deal. It's not something that will cause immediate failure.

have you ever bought a car without looking at it first?

I've bought two vehicles off Bring a Trailer, an '95 Ferrari 308 and a 2011 Range Rover. Both ended up being very nice. Of course, with BaT, you get a lot of photos and such (usually) so it's not _quite_ sight unseen. Anyhow, I agree with others, this is likely a scam. Cashiers checks are faked...

How do you prevent dew inside your garage?

Live in Houston, have old garage with zero insulation. It would get WET inside, like dripping wet. I put in a powered vent fan and that has cured that.

Its official - 60% of households and 82% of singles can't afford a new car.

New cars just don't make sense to me. My 2011 Range Rover cost $15K in very, very good condition. Runs great and is a pleasure to drive. Sure, a used car is going to have some issues, but I can afford to spend a _lot_ of money on a $15K car before it becomes a bad choice vs a new $50K car...

Land Rover STJLR.03.5003 (Euro oil) vs. API SP (U.S.)?

I wouldn't expect them to care about platinum or moly, but the how the oil performs in whatever tests they deem important. There are are usually more than one way to get to the end goal.

    Torque wrench suggestions wanted

I believe my Snap-On torque wrenches are actually made by Precision Instruments. They've worked well for 20+ years. That's what I'd do. And I'd get a 3/8" unit for 14mm bolts @ 63ft/lbs.

Buying a new O2 sensor - Rockauto vs. Amazon

A few years back, I bought a bunch of parts from RA needed to do a timing belt change on my NSX. Sadly, they sat on a shelf for over a year before I got to it. When I did, I discovered some belts were incorrect. I emailed RA and explained that I really should have checked this earlier, I realize...

It's time to play "What oil for"... 2011 Land Rover RR w/ 5.0 NA motor

Interesting this thread popped back up today as I just drained (actually sucked) and refilled with M1 ESP X2 0W-20 last night. That is apparently the approved oil from M1 for this motor. The oil coming out only had 2K miles on it and boy was it nasty. Surprised by that, given the motor is quite...

Best performing oil for track use - Camaro SS

I'd run M1 0W-40, like I have in every other track car that I've owned. Hasn't failed me yet!

    Worst dipstick ever?

At least you have a dipstick. E92 M3 and Range Rover only have electronic oil level indicators. The BMW's isn't so bad, just have to wait until the oil is hot but it's available while the car is driving down the road. But the Range Rover's is annoying, oil has to be hot, car has to be off for...
