3,000 mile paranoia. Who has it here?

Did the taste on a dare, really tastes like nothing. Thought there might be a beef after taste.

'11 ranger 2.3L calls for 5w-20, shop installed

My employer, the State of Kansas uses a no name brand of 5w-30 in all our pickups that call for 5w-20. Pointed this out to the mechanics. The State just does not seem to care about warranty concerns, guess cause its the taxpayers dollar they don't care.

3,000 mile paranoia. Who has it here?

Forgot to mention I use G-OIL in all my vehicles and lawn equipment with the exception of a 2011 Silverado due to warranty concerns. So very little dependency on foreign oil and its animal and plant matter. Stuff works and its American made.

3,000 mile paranoia. Who has it here?

With 3,000 mile changes I'm betting I have less metal particles floating around in my oil then compared to letting it go way beyond that, probably resulting in better compression. Take two identical vehicles and do 3,000 mile oil change on one and drag out the oil changes to today's advocated...

3,000 mile paranoia. Who has it here?

Proof is in the pudding. I have done 3,000 mile oil changes will no ill effects. far as proof, had an old 1987 Firebird that had an engine compression test done on it and the two mechanics came and got me to show me that the engine had near perfect compression on all cylinders. Around 180,000...

Anyone using G-Oil SAE 30 for OPE?

Just to clarify, I'm using G-Oil in my old 1996 Dodge Neon with 165,000 miles. Its the 5w-30 black bottle variety. Engine seems to run a tad bit cooler. The push mower is a 1999 B&G 4.5 horse model and it is running the SAE 30. You have to kind of watch when removing the dip stick from either...

Anyone using G-Oil SAE 30 for OPE?

Using G-Oil Full Synthetic (Black bottle) and the SAE 30 in a 13 year old B&S push mower. Have nothing bad to say about it. Does not have an odor like regular engine oil. Good stuff in my book. There are rebates going on right now for a single quart and the 5 quart Full Synthetic 5w-30 jug at...

    Funny story with question.

I figured the fuel injection thing may not be too far off the mark. The part about NASCAR engines being rebuilt only when the have a total of at least 15,000 miles on them was really far out there. This guard used to be the supervisor mechanic where I work, my bet is he would never be able to...

    Funny story with question.

I know a fella that is a security guard at the Kansas Speedway and he had some whoppers to tell the group that was willing to listen. The guard claims he got to take a ride in a new NASCAR race car that was brought down form Charlotte to be tested. Said that he was in the car and it topped out...

Lucas X-TRA Heavy Duty Grease for 2011 Sliverado?

Rand, You could not be more right. I checked and double checked about the compatibility of lithium and polyurea bases, they do not mix. Lucas tries to tell you to get as much of the lithium base out before putting in their polyurea based stuff, then it should be o.k. Not going to tempt fate...

    M1 "extended performance" oil

Well, I got underneath the truck today for a better look and I found I was wrong. The leak is 100% coming from the drain plug on the oil pan. I torqued it on the last oil drain to GM specs, which is 18ftpds. So much for being anal about specs. Now what? Do I try a different brand of DEXOS 1...

    M1 "extended performance" oil

Never faulted Mobil 1 EP, just said I was disappointed to find a leak. I've had this exact problem on other vehicles with varying mileage using synthetics. It is a very small but, noticable and in a small area. There is no oil loss showing on the dipstick. Been very happy with the truck so far...

    M1 "extended performance" oil

Leakyseals, No loose oil filter. Completely clean and oil free around filter area. If I could pull the transmission I'am sure I could find the source. Pan Seal/gasket or rear main seal. As for the grease zerks, hate to tell you but, there are two, one on each tie rod end. Chevrolet 1500's for...

    M1 "extended performance" oil

I have the Mobil 1 EP 5w-30 in my 2011 chevrolet 4.3 liter and got under the truck today to look for grease zerks only to find a leak from either the oil pan seal/gasket or the rear main. Truck only has 3300 miles on it, changed the factory fill out at a little over 500 miles. Needless to say...

Lucas X-TRA Heavy Duty Grease for 2011 Sliverado?

Gene K, Lucas X-Tra Heavy Duty has a dropping point of 500 degrees if that helps. I just looked my truck over for zerks and only found two, tie rod ends. I used Lucas on a dump truck along with other greases and this is the one that stays put. The others are typical and seep out over time. Maybe...
