    15w-50 synthetic in H-D Transmission?

Not sure if the JASO rating is going to be relevant as the oil is not going into the motor or the primary (clutch). I live in AZ where ambient air temps run up to 120 and even higher when running across the asphalt therefore I am running Redline Shockproof Heavy which is probably overkill. I...

Switched to ATF in the Primary

After having the Castrol ATF+4 in the primary for almost a week now I am amazed at how smooth shifting is as a result of presumably reducing drag on the clutch. I know there is some skepticism but I really don't consider this an experiment or overly risky as a large and well respected...

Switched to ATF in the Primary

After hearing that clutch manufacturer Barnett recommends using ATF with their clutches and reading posts about Harley owners with experience using ATF in their primaries I changed the Fluid in my Deuce's primary today. Used Castrol ATF+4. Shifting was quite noticeably smoother.

    harley oil temp curiosity

My 01 Softail has a temp gauge style dipstick. Oil in the tank seems to remain around 200 after warmed up and during normal operation. Not sure what it's pan temps are.

Thoughts on Shockproof in Harley Trans

Decided to put Shockproof in the trans. Drained what the last owner had in it (looked like motor oil). The Shockproof improved shifting considerably. Much smoother, less clunking. Very impressed.

Thoughts on Shockproof in Harley Trans

I live in Arizona, where it is quite hot at the moment. I just bought a 2001 Duece with a TC88. Going to change fluids today and am wondering if it is prudent to use Redline Heavy Shockproof gear oil in the trans. I have owned Moto Guzzis in the past and have used Shockproof before. It is very...

Ready to Fill, PSF or ATF, in a GM

Just put a rebuilt power steering gearbox and power steering pump in my 72 Suburban. The system is is empty of any fluid and I am contemplating whether to put in PSF or ATF. I live in AZ where temps are high. Suggestions?

    05 LaCrosse, 3.8L, 65k, Burn 1 Qt Every 4k

I bought a 2005 Buick LaCrosse for my wife a year ago. It had 45k on it and appeared to be well maintained. It has 65k on it now and runs great. We love it. However, it seems to somehow lose a quart of oil every 4000 miles. No smoke ever seen coming from tailpipe and no leaks in sight. Should I...

    Best oil for a '08 V-Star 1100

Rotella syn 5w-40. I have run it in my air cooled v-twin in AZ when ambient temp is 120F and temp just above the blacktop is likely 130F to 140F. Whatever you use I would change it often with a wet clutch. It's a whole lot easier on the pocketbook to use Rotella Syn vs M1 V-Twin or other...

Wonder why GM is having trouble?

I own 5 GMs. I have an 04 Cavalier with 112,000 miles that does not drop or burn any oil, gets 30mpg, and still runs like new. A guy I work with has a Cavalier with 250,000 miles on it with no maintenane issues. My wife has an 05 LaCrosse with over 50k on it with no probs yet and it looks and...

    RTS "CI-4" 5w-40 vs. Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w-40

RTS and RT both sound good to me. And their prices are both less than M1. I ran the RTS in my air cooled big twin Guzzi last winter.

    HDEO question?

Delvac, Delo, Rotella. They are all probably good choices. Hard to go wrong here.

Glad to hear the Gold comes with an o-ring. I may use one next time. What was the price?

2.2L chevy cobalt ecotec filter cartridge

I just bought a Supertech today. Came with the o-ring as Onmo just stated. Based on my experience only the K&N, Baldwin, and now the Supertech have come with a new o-ring. Because the Supertechs are so easy to get I will probably be using them more in the future. I sure wish the PureOnes came...
