What'd the pothole do to my car?

long-shot guess: Historically I have seen several instances of a rock getting stuck at the top of the brake pad causing a squeaking sound. Good luck.

5w-20 oil recomended by factory in a 435hp car?

https://www.machinerylubrication.com/Read/518/motor-oils Cut and paste from the above article. "Thinner oils have less drag, and therefore less friction and wear. Right? Perhaps in the test engine or engines that experience normal operation. But somewhat thicker oils may offer more protection...

Toyota 5.7L, 0w-20 noisy, STP to thicken?

May I suggest being conservative: Try half a bottle of the STP first. Observe results. If the noise decreases you are on the right track. IMHO one bottle of STP in 8 quarts is not going to harm anything. Next oil change use a synthetic 5W30. Good day. Rickey.

New Cub Cadet lawn tractor - which one?

Greetings. Just my worth of rambling on; discounted to free: IMHO "big box store" Cubs or Deere's or whatever are designed to a price/profitability point. The emphasis on these type machines is NOT quality/durability first. Back when I was a new homeowner, I owned several new "big box store"...

    2002 Corvette Z06 - Castrol 0w40 Euro - 1122 miles

Given the blower and pump gas at least part of the time; it would be nice to rule out detonation/pre-ignition. Assuming that the knock sensor is working would tend to minimize suspicion of detonation and or pre-ignition. If these problems are present however this could "beat up" the bearings...

    Synthetic 2 Stroke Oil Benefits?

"Finally someone who gets it." Not so sure I understand what you mean here. Really per-ignition caused by insufficient octane can not be ignored as a source of engine damage/failure. "Not once have I concerned myself with thoughts of octane requirements." If that statement is taken...

    Oil/filter for a 2017 3.6 Chev Impala?

Greetings. Don't let anyone talk you out of using the Dexos 1 spec oil in your 3.6. It's Direct Injection with a very stout compression ratio. The Dexos 1 spec is designed to address Low Speed Pre-Ignition (LSPI) among other things. LSPI is a real concern with the combination of Direct...

Failing a 2AZ oil consumption test

To the OP: In order to minimize oil consumption one could choose to do the following: Do not operate the engine at high RPM and high manifold vacuum concurrently. For example; using the engine to do some braking such as going down a mountain or steep grade in a manually selected lower than...

Sears sells Craftsman tool brand to Stanley tools

Caution!! Justifiable rant and venting ahead: No tears to shed for Sears here. I've been eagerly awaiting their downfall since they wrecked the exhaust system on my beloved low mileage '96 Caprice during a new tire installation. Their tech apparently used the exhaust system on my car as a...

seafoam or berryman for carb cleaning

Greetings, Long term Berryman B12 Chemtool user here. Never tried Seafoam. Berryman has saved me the time and trouble of disassembling a gummed up carburetor on OPE many times over the years. Works well for cleaning automotive fuel systems as well. I've seen it clear a plugged fuel injector...

    87 in ope?

93 E-0 runs much better in my 2-stroke equipment. (two weed whackers) With 87 E-10 there is audible pinging and some sputtering in the exhaust at WOT. The pinging is pronounced enough to be audible in spite of the exhaust noise. I speculate that the oil gas mix results in a slight octane...
