Wouldn’t the motor work better’er with a 30 weight oiL?

I've ripped up the Rocky mountains in Colorado on 285 and highway 160 towing a 6k pound camper with a Ford 7.3 Gas and my oil temps hit 220 sometimes with 5w30 going up wolf creek pass. Not saying its hard on the engine per say but sometimes I wish had a 40 weight in there I think 20 weight...

is this because 0w-20 is GARBAGE for A 400+ HP engine that's made to tow?

I love amsoil but their 10w30 SS is freaking thin.. its barely in grade.

I've ran a few 0w30 intervals, didn't notice anything unusual. I kinda want to run 10w30 over the summer (srs).

is this white bottle redline 5w30 or the OEM recommended black bottle?

I mean, this is true with any motor oil where different additives are competing with space on the metal regardless of it being diesel or gas motor oiL.

Ford recommends 0w30 in their 6.8 and 7.3 gas v8's when operating below -4 AND above 5,000' altitude

Ive been using AMSOIL Signature Series 5w30 diesel oil. Its dual rated for sn, sn+ but not sp. I like that its thicker and probably has higher levels of zinc and phosphorus. Its not burning any oil so i'm not concerned about cats failing. Even if its not SP, but is still dual rated for gas...

When I plug in my bx1880 after a couple hours of it being plugged in the oil filter gets pretty toasty. Warming the oil is a secondary affect of the block heater but it has to be plugged in for a while and preferably with no wind beating on it
