Our gas mileage is largely unaffected while carrying bike rack

I think the air flow separation coming off the back of the van creates a low pressure that the bikes are in. There is some turbulance and updrafts but little impact on drag. The main impact would be from the bike and rack weight.

Surface rust after move to dry climate

If humidity remains low, rust will not progress. However, if temperature drops below the dew point, a possibility during cold nights, water vapors can condense on surfaces creating brief periods when rust progression is possible. I don't think this would be a significant issue but it is a...

Gas has gone up 30+%, why hasn’t automotive Oil?

I mistakenly hit the "like" emoji on this post. Can my like be removed? I actually think this post is wrong. Gasoline is a light end and comes off at a lower temperature early in the process.

How to cut a 25° angle with siding?

If you're siding a gable end you can use the "rise over run." You'll need a carpenter's square.

    5% Moly Grease for Mining/Construction

I think your Komatsu spec is 5103. It doesn't specify a solid type or content. It simply states a maximum of 5% of lubricating solids such as moly and graphite. I would select a a grease performing higher than spec rather then just meeting it. I would also select grease offered by a company...

Flagged Moly and Sodium numbers - used oil analysis

These numbers are normal for the oil. Five samples between 2/25 and 3/26 showed Na at 5-8 ppm and Mo at 221-297. Averages are 6 ppm and 246 ppm for Na and Mo, respectively.

Spilled Techron on carpet? What to do?

Plenty of warm water with dawn or simple green, lather it and shop vac it up. Do this several times and then begin the rinse cycle, same process without soap.

    Moly and Graphite

But with few exceptions, greases do not contain water. Water may be added or formed during the soap reaction, However, most greases go through a dehydration process. During processing, moly and graphite (and other filler or lubricating solids) are dispersed into discrete particles that are in an...

This is a great question on a complex topic.

Is molykote 111 good to use on silicone o-rings?

Probably not. Compatibility is based on solubility or the tendency of the fluid to absorb into the elastomer. The Molykote 111 is a silicone and silica based valve sealant/lubricant. The silicone fluid would tend to soften and swell the O-ring. It may even turn it into a snotty, gooey mess.

    Tcw3 as upper cylinder lubricant?

Years ago I worked with a engine oil chemist who used NMMA TC-W3 at 1:400 for the same reasons that you mention.
