Just wondered if this rebuild stopped the oil burning. I had the short block install on my 2012 with 5-speed...
I've been using it too on my SIGs (rails and outside of barrel). It seemed that plain oil wasn't doing enough for a steel slide on an aluminum frame (even with anodizing). For a steel slide on a steel frame, I would probably just use oil
This was the first analysis for our 1998 Ford Escort. We took it to our mechanic, and indeedy-do, cylinder #4 was leaking, so we had it fixed. The car has 100 000 miles on it. It had an intermediate oil change after the repair, and this weekend I'm going to put some Castrol Syntec 10W-30 in it...
Presently, my car doesn't have a tach. I got a used cluster on eBay, but I have to put another 3000 miles on my car until the mileage matches and I can install it.
There's a trick I found on focusfanatics.com, where you hold in the odometer reset while you're starting the car. The odometer...
Yep, as soon as I took posession of the car, I changed the oil and filter (Bosch). These are the results four months and 3300 miles later.
My Focus is a 2.3-L Duratec PZEV (for the green states), so it came with a non-user-servicable air filter. I took that off and now have a Marcy Motorsports...
Here is my first analysis from Blackstone. This change interval was a little over 3000 miles since my cooling fan bought the farm and the engine got a little hot (121°C). I wanted to make sure there were no ill effects, and it's also my first oil change since I got the car 4 months ago.
I'm...
Thanks to everyone for the replies. I'll just stick with the Syntec 5W-20, and have an oil analysis done when it's time to change the oil.
Last question: what is the recommended change interval for this synthetic? I'm used to 3000 miles with the dino oil. Is that interval a waste of money with...
The one they had in there was too long, which actually makes it the lowest point on the car in the front end. I checked the part numbers to verify this, and put the stock size back on. On the 2.3-L Duratec engine, the filter points at the ground. (I'm not sure about the 2.0 L)
As a noob, I'd first off just like to say hi. This forum was mentioned on FocusFanatics.com, so I though I'd check it out. Lots of great info here for sure.
I just picked up a 2004 Focus 2.3-L, 5-speed, with 24 000 miles. I'm looking forward to putting on some basic mods (e.g cold air...
