I love how people can't afford an oil change...

Fortunately mine is a regular wet sump LS3 engine and only requires 6 qts. I understand the dry sump cars require 7+ quarts for the LS3 in the Grand Sport and who knows for the LS7 in the Z06. I had an LS1 powered Camaro for years and it was a 5 1/2 qt. change with filter. That stupid 1/2 qt...

I love how people can't afford an oil change...

I've had oil change places bring my K&N air filter in to demonstrate that it needs changing with one of their paper filters because they don't know that it's a washable filter and they routinely sell the housewives and accountants that they normally deal with a new air filter as an add on sale...

I love how people can't afford an oil change...

I bought a 2009 Corvette a year ago April and have changed the oil twice since. I was amazed to see that the oil fill cap actually had a Mobil 1 emblem on it in full color. I presume that Chevrolet, regardless of their AC Delco Dexos 1 oil, recommends Mobil 1 for the LS3 engine in the Corvette...

I love how people can't afford an oil change...

My daughter came to visit with her two small children for a weekend and she told me the oil light on her 2008 Chevy Trailblazer was on. I checked the oil level and came up with a dry dipstick. I had some oil laying around my garage so I decided that some oil, even of a mixed breed, was better...

Changing viscosity on an older engine?

Yes, the radiator was out of the car about six months ago because I suspected it might be clogged. The guy at the radiator shop did a flow check and a reverse flow check on it and told me it was the cleanest used radiator he'd ever seen. I was present for the flow checks and it only spewed clear...

Changing viscosity on an older engine?

I don't have a "real gauge" in the car because I show it in a modified/stock class at car shows and like to keep it looking as original as possible. I suppose I could temporarily mount a real oil pressure gauge to find out i f the problem is with the gauge, the sender or what.

    Oil Viscosity Recomendation

I've got a 1969 Ford Mustang with an original 302 V8 which is mildly modified. When I had it rebuilt 49K miles ago I broke it in on Castrol 10W-30 and have been using it ever since. When I lived in the S.F. Bay Area, where the ambient summer time temperatures are fairly mild, the engine always...

Changing viscosity on an older engine?

I've got a mildly built Ford 302 that I have been operating recently in ambient temperatures of 100*+. This is a 1969 block and low end. The engine has been heating up and I've noticed that the oil pressure is dropping off as this happens. I rebuilt the engine 49K miles ago and have been using...

Oil for my '69 Mustang 302

I've got a '69 Mustang convertible with the original 302 engine in it. It was rebuilt about 47K miles ago and I switched to a 3.55 rear end, so I'm probably wearing the engine out at a much faster rate than with the original 2.79 gears. I have always used Castrol 10W30 in this engine and it is...
