    Inadequate tires from the factory

My experience has been bad enough with OEM tires that with my most recent car (22 4Runner) I had the dealer remove the OEM tires and put Michelins on before I even picked it up. Toyota particularly seems to put awful tires on OEM. Which is strange because the rest of their cars are so good...

Who makes the best aftermarket black steel wheels ?

Get OEM ones. I would have never imagined that it mattered who made a simple steel wheel but I learned a few years back that OEM manufacturers seem to do it better. I had a 2011 Taurus and bought winter wheels from the dealer, they were basic steel wheels but had a little Ford logo stamped in...

Not the greatest pic but you can see what I’m talking about in the circles.

Would a tire tech balance tires with old weights still attached

So I just ordered a new SUV (brand new 4Runner) a few months ago. Instead of keeping the OEM tires, I told them to take those off, put some Michelin X-Ice on the stock rims, then order me some of the TRD rims with Michelin AT2 tires for the warmer months. No problem. I happened to be driving...
