2000 Jeep 4.0L 107k mi; coolant intrusion after rebuild

I had a 1983 N/A with a T-19 and 4:10 gears with limited slip. Drove all over the US with a big Lance camper and to the lakes with camper and boat. Then later used it for a work truck. Pretty much just kept going as long as I kept pouring oil in it. Fuel mileage was pretty good. I would always...

2000 Jeep 4.0L 107k mi; coolant intrusion after rebuild

Ya my conventional 10W-30 also showed out of viscosity range after just 1,000 miles, SUS @ 54.6 and cST @ 8.64. I am thinking of going back to synthetic or even a 10W-40 since I live in the desert. Those 110F days with the AC running really get the oil hot. Is your F-250 a 6.9 diesel?

2000 Jeep 4.0L 107k mi; coolant intrusion after rebuild

Thanks. It's actually a Wrangler TJ but same engine as the Cherokee.

2000 Jeep 4.0L 107k mi; coolant intrusion after rebuild

Thanks. Should I try any flushing with my next oil change, like Rislone or even kerosene? Whoops I didn't see your edit in time : so it sounds like I don't need to worry about 26PPM in your opinion.

2000 Jeep 4.0L 107k mi; coolant intrusion after rebuild

Normal is about 4PPM and I'm not sure how harmful 26PPM is, I do know that my earlier numbers led to high wear metals as well. Iron is still slightly high on this last report.

2000 Jeep 4.0L 107k mi; coolant intrusion after rebuild

I have a 2000 Jeep 4.0 I-6 that has an engine rebuild at 107K but they used the original head not knowing that the 2000-2001heads are prone to cracking. I bought the Jeep at 117K so 10,000 miles after the rebuild, sent in a UOA which came back with high levels of coolant contamination. Found a...

What are you running in your 7.3 Powerstroke?

Here is what I am talking about, quoted from Fullbay (not affiliated with any oil manufacturers) which I will also link here: https://www.fullbay.com/blog/ck4-vs-cj4/# Just because the API sets a standard, that doesn’t mean that all oil brands are the same across the board. Some will choose to...

What are you running in your 7.3 Powerstroke?

Yes indeed most all of the old oils are now on that list. But you have to admit that the powers behind making the decisions as to what is good for the engines have a huge stake in seeing that the new vehicles make it through the emissions warranty. They have absolutely nothing to lose when 10...

What are you running in your 7.3 Powerstroke?

My point is we all ran our trucks many miles on CI and CJ oils with no issues, now those oils no longer exist as we knew them so I am looking for a solution to that. API CK oil has not been out long enough to set the same track records as we set with the older oils. I ran Rotella T 15/40 for...

What are you running in your 7.3 Powerstroke?

After finally using up my stockpile of Rotella-T 15/40 CJ-4 I have to decide what to use. I did try Travellers this time and have just a few hundred miles on it. When it gets near 5K I will send off a sample. There are many oils out there that meet the Ford spec WSS-M2C171-F1 including the...
