Upon further review, it looks like only the 21386 "Smartstow" model comes with the Briggs engine. Now I really have to talk to my dealer to get to the bottom of this.

Are you sure you want to drive it through winter with a broken CV boot? Why not fix it now, before any damage is done? Seems like the cheaper route to me.
