Also, how long you gotta wait for the replacement? You get one from the local parts store or Ace, you can just run and grab a new one under their respective lifetime warranties.
Me too. I have one more jug of 0w20 Pennzoil Ultra Platinum that will go in either the Odyssey or Optima once they hit 5k miles, then I'm going exclusively to Mobil 1 ESP 0w30. I already had an engine replaced in the Optima. Not really looking to do it again while I still have the loan on it.
It's amazing how tight bearing clearances HAVE to have 0w16 or below...until there's a turbo involved, then you have to use higher grades so the oil doesn't cook off. Almost like that higher grade is fine to begin with lol
Not who you replied to, but I've used 0w20 since I bought the car 3 years ago. I got a good deal on Pennzoil Ultra Platinum through Amazon a while back, so that's going in my Kia and the wife's Odyssey. When those run out I think I'm just going to run Mobil 1 ESP 0w30 from here on out in mine at...
Doubtful. In the end it mainly came down to them not fully flushing the engine out once it was machined leaving bits of metal that clogged the crank bearing journals. No oil will fix a situation where it can't reach to begin with. I wish when it happened to mine I'd asked what exactly caused it...
I had to go through this same scenario last March. Except mine never gave any indication that it was ready to go. Just going down the highway with the family and the car just shuts down. Won't even crank. There was never any noise or glitter to the oil and I had been changing it every 4k-5k...
I've done this for years. Only exception has been new jeans the first couple times, and even then I'll wash those with anything darker than them. Never once had an issue in over 20 years. Wash everything on cold except a couple things. Saves money and detergents are meant to work in all temps...
Just an FYI, I have a Kia with the same Theta engine. Bought at 72k miles. Made sure all the necessary recalls and inspections were done on it in case the engine let go on me. Drove it for just over a year and a half and had zero issues. Great power, no oil burning, always inspected the oil each...
Literally just about any current cheap oil (such as SuperTech, Kirkland, RIP Amazon Basics, etc.) on the shelf meeting or exceeding the specs in the manual will work for well over 99.9% of people.
That includes the people here lol
