Ya I don’t think they intended for it to be an extended drain oil, I think calling it extended protection was strictly for the beefier add pack. I’m running the valvoline extended protection max life 0w-20 and will send a sample of it off at 6k miles to see how it does.

I run 0w-20 in my 5.7 hemi year round in Montana, our winter temps can get in the -30’s sometimes so I just like the peace of mind of having a 0w.

Reason I asked is I’ve been getting the wix xp’s at oreilly’s. But I do have access to amsoil filters, also looked for royal purple filters and can’t seem to find the one I’d need for my 2011 ram 1500 with the 5.7 hemi
