The cost of "free" health care

I hear you about havin a bad day. I just thought you were being a little over the top. The problem with everything is that each persons problems/life is different. But we all like to lump everyone into one group or another and come up with the solution to the problem. I don't think there will be...

When should I change factory fill?

Dealer changed my 2004 Toyota 4.7 V8 at 1800 miles and then again at 5000 miles. Toyota does not use break-in oil. I'm with you I don't know if it helps but it made me feel better. Do it!!! I use Castrol GTX 5w30 and will change it every 3750 miles with OEM filter. I will go to Mobil 1 later...

The cost of "free" health care

I'm just glad our conservative controled government is protecting us from the dangerous drugs that could come in our country from Canada. I know that Canada has lower prices for drugs and I'm sure that they are inferior to the drugs that are safe and sold at a higher price here in the USA. PS...

    Time to Boycott Autozone!

If my knowledge of history is correct we took it from them first. I say let them have it back. It's going to fall into the ocean with the next big earth quake anyway.

    Same engine,different region,different oil grade,why?

Why not just use what the manufacture recommends in the owners manual and after a couple of hundred thousand miles when you are tire of driving the old car get a new one?

    2003 Dodge Ram CTD

John, I've owned 2 CTD powered trucks. Just use Rotella T 15w40 year round and change it every 5K miles with the fleetguard or Mopar filter (samething) and you should get 500K+++ miles out of the engine. It's the truck that will die long before that Cummins. If you are doing all of the bypass...

    Same engine,different region,different oil grade,why?

MikeR, so are you saying that both oils are fine for the engine and one oil is better for the environment and mpg. I would think that bmw would just recommend the 5w30 for everyone if it performed as well/better? This is a very good question. I would love to know the answer??

    M1 cleaner than conventional oil?

Never owned any vehicle long enough where the type of oil used would make any difference, regarding how long the engine lasted. They always lasted as long as I owned the vehicle. Cost of oil and service was also never a big consideration. I normally changed oil/filters anywhere between 3-5K...

    M1 cleaner than conventional oil?

Run the dino for the first 60K miles at 4K mile OCI and then switch to Mobil 1 for the next 40K miles with a 5K mile OCI now check the valve adjustment at 100K miles and guess what? The engine looks like new. I don't know what it looked like at 60K since I didn't check the valves at 60K but at...

    Castrol Syntec vs. Mobile 1

For warranty reasons I have to change oil/filter every 5K miles. Dealer uses Castrol. I decided to go with Castrol GTX every 3750 miles versus Castrol syntec every 5000 miles. Cost is less, Plus based on UOA that I've seen done on Toyota 4.7 V8 engines the 4.7 V8 is easy on oil. So I would...
