Pentrite 10 Tenths Racing - PAO & Ester Query

I used 10w10 Penrite racing for 230000km and 15 years, in a 2 litre Astra turbo. When I sold it the engine was like new. Typical oil use over a 10000km oil change would be about 100ml (1/10 the is dipstick high to low marks, they are about 1 litre apart) from 4.3litres of oil (4300ml). Probably...

    4 Ball Test...

Oops, forgot to quote, this is in response to the guy asking if engines have ball bearings. Not usually, there are usually some on the motor in ancillaries, belt idle wheels, but not exposed to engine oil. Maybe the 1.0 ecoboost with its timing belt that runs in oil has them? Roller rockers...

    WD-40 Mixed into Motor Oil

Well, I normally do all my own work on my car. This was sort of an emergency. Sunday afternoon I discovered water in my oil. I needed the car for travel to and from work. So I grabbed a hire car and got a mechanic to fix it up. It could have taken me a couple of weeks to sort otherwise. They...

    WD-40 Mixed into Motor Oil

When I had my oil cooler replaced and was picking up the car, the mechanic noticed some oil or such had got onto the windscreen. He grabbed a can of spray and a rag and cleaned it off. I asked what it was he spray. He said WD40, it's great for cleaning off oil. Two days later I am seperating my...

    Royal Purple solved my problem

I think it's like the Purple Teletubby, a "lifestyle" choice oil, if you get my drift

What do you think of my blend?

I have emailed the Penrite tech questioning the oil recommended for my car. They had a 15w50 recommended (the thickest option in the manual or a 15w40. I asked about the 10w40 and the response was "We recommended using a 15w oil as that is what holden spec'd". I wondered about the quality of...

What does that say for OCIs on Mobil 1?

What do you think of my blend?

I just use their 10w-40 racing oil. It is not like we need the 0w feature in Australia, except for the oil being thinner at startup. Take a look at the specs though. At 40C the 10w-40 is 92VI and the 0w-50 is 108VI, the 10w is the thinner oil when cool. Also the 10w-40 has the advantage of no...

Mobil 1 EP, high efficiency with high capacity, enough to not require 3000 mile changes like some other high efficiency filters.
