    I emailed the oil manufacturer, Penrite. They confirmed that the ratio between sodium and potassium in the coolant is 1:38 so as my ratio os 31:1 it seems unlikely that the sodium is coming from my coolant. They 'don't have' (or wouldnt release) the information on the oil. Perhaps i'll do...

    Thanks for your comments. Hopefully I can find a sodium content in the manufacturers data somewhere, although the MSDS does not seem to have what I'm looking for. The exhaust elbow is 2years old and I have visually inspected (no sign of an issue).

    First oil analysis on my VW Marine 150-5 TDI engine gave warning at 31ppm Sodium. Engine is 5cyl, 2.5L, Turbo intercooled approx 3300 hours, runs clean.
