    2000 Silverado Trans Problem

I went to AutoZone and they scanned it and got the P1870 code for trans slipping due to high pressures. I had been quoted the $500 Valve body and a full trans upgrade for $1800. So took a chance with nothing to lose and added 8 oz of MMO to the trans and it is shifitng like a champ (smooth as...

    2000 Silverado Trans Problem

Just recently my 2000 Silverado with 4L60E transmission started popping into gears. Out of nowhere, it just started dragging when taking off and then popping from one gear to the other. It has now set off a Check Engine Light. I will have to get the code checked. Has anyone else seen this...

    Extractor for differential?

If you do take the cover off the diff, what is a good spray to clean everything out on the inside? Is brake cleaner ok?

Went with Pennzoil Platinum 10w-30 for my LS1

For low use and/or long periods of non-use, I would worry more about your fuel than your oil (a good choice either way). Add some Stabil or something so it won't gum up on you. Just a thought...

Smaller spare tire do any harm?

I always thought only one tire was powered from the diff and if that tire slipped and lost traction then the locking part would engage the other tire to get traction. I thought only a posi trac had both wheels powered from the diff at all times.

Smaller spare tire do any harm?

Does anyone know which rear tire gets the power from the differential? Driver or passenger side on a 2000 silverado, auto, 5.3L??

Smaller spare tire do any harm?

Does anyone know if it would hurt my truck's differential to run a smaller spare tire on the back wheels til I get my flat tire fixed. I run 20's but my spare is a 17 I think. Not sure but I can verify. Just wondering.

    Air compressor use and storage?

How does everyone here use and store their air compressor? I only use mine (5hp, 21gal) every few months, so I let it pressure up and use it for what I need and then when I'm done, I vent the air out and open up the T-couplers so it stays open to ambient air. Do I need to vent the bottom to let...

    Anyone run into E10 problems??

We have been mandated to run E10 fuel (ethanol) in our area. I work in a City Fleet and we are worried that maint problems will occur from the effects of the E10. Anyone run into any problems with it yet? New vehicles or older vehicles? May be a little to early to tell around here.

Yearly oil changes, when do you change it?

I would think that right before summer so the fresh oil can handle the hardest season of heat and carry you throughout the winter and into the spring on the oil's last leg.

    Tire Cupping

Went to Discount Tires to get my wheels balanced and rotated on my 2000 Silverado and when completed, the guy tells me that my tires are showing signs of cupping. Looks like bulges in areas of the tire. Could barely see some raising in the middle section of tread. I am getting a vibration at...

    Clean Diamond Plate Toolbox

Has anyone been able to get a diamond plate aluminum toolbox back to its original shine? Mine looks very dull and seems to have a buildup like on a shower glass door. Regular carwash soap seems to have no effect. Any tips or tricks would be appreciated.

    Storing truck...change out oil?

I'd worry more about the fuel than the oil. What are you gonna add to the gas for storage?

    63 in 35 zone

I was lucky with 3 warnings before I got caught doing 61 in a 45. Cop gave me a break at 50 in a 45. Still the fine was $143. I opted for $111 fee, $25 defensive driving course, and $10 DPS driving record. Same cost approx, but no points for work and no insurance rate hike. That truck sure can...

How to stop our car from static shocking us?

How about trying some of that spray that gets rid of static like on women's skirts and stuff. I havent seen that commercial on tv in a while...I wonder if its still around? Or maybe rubbing a cling-free sheet from the laundry on the seats. Let us know how that works.
