CNBC : Why Tire Companies Love E.V.s'

Not pot calling kettle. I get it that my EV is charged by some dirty sources but with my local utility the mix is constantly transitioning to cleaner sources, I don't know of any way to make an ICE cleaner burning as it ages. On top of that power plant emissions are highly regulated and the...

CNBC : Why Tire Companies Love E.V.s'

Are we just ignoring leaking underground fuel storage tanks, cars leaking oil/fluids/gasoline all over the roads, the use and disposal of engine oil, etc.? Also the refining of oil for the end result of gasoline and diesel is a very energy intensive process. If we are talking about cradle to...

Auto execs are coming clean evs arentworking.

    1) This is complete FUD. The 10-80% are not hard stops and you are free to charge to 100% and drain to 0% if needed which I have done a few times for road trips. Not sure why Tesla is somehow immune from the same problem if you limit yourself to 10-80%. Your colleague also bought the absolute...

    USED ANTIFREEZE $5 a jug at Pick-n-Pull!

Who knows - maybe mixing all the different formulations results in a freeze point that beats every freeze point ever known. (/sarcasm)

Sixt to Phase Out Teslas From Rental Car Fleet on Poor Resale Value

My thoughts are the big 2 (National/Enterprise/Alamo and Hertz/Dollar/Thrifty) under-estimated Sixt when they broke into the US market. I rented from Sixt first when they barely had a token presence in the US and I think at that point they were only in 8-10 major metro areas (this was back in...

    2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV Reveal

Still far too expensive and the delays bringing it to market put GM on the wrong end of the demand curve with this one. They really dilly dallied with the Lyriq and Hummer far too long. I was honestly rooting for GM but it is clear at this point they just can't get it done and the Ultium rollout...

Yup......guessing the brown stains were a giveaway.

My Poor, Innocent Jetta. Totaled or Not? You Be the Judge.

I’m going to throw in a vote that it is totaled. This same gen GLI (2017 w/83k miles) without suspension damage was deemed a total loss recently. No airbags deployed in the below vehicle.

The Future is Here, Today. (Headlights)

Same color as the regular low beams, just the low and wide pattern closer in front of the car like typical fogs. I could not see any difference looking at the projector with the poor weather lights on/off so here is a picture of the projector housing. It also has cornering lights (light up to...

The Future is Here, Today. (Headlights)

US Market ID.4's (Pro S and above) have the matrix headlight hardware but the functionality has been programmed out for our market due to the older FMVSS standard. Some of the more knowledgable owners have been trying to figure out how to code the functionality back in but I don't believe it has...

Visited Mercedes-Benz first ever North American charging hub.

It is .50/KWH and seems comparable to EVGo who is the only other network I have found who has switched to charging by KWH instead of by time. L3 is not really meant for day to day use, some folks with free charging plans do use it routinely because its free but other than that it's not cost...

Oh level 2 is always cheaper because its slow, what would take 8+ hours on L2 would take 15-30 minutes on these stations. Sure you L2 if lets say you are parking for work or class and your car would be parked for hours anyways but if you are in time crunch (road trip) or opportunity charging...

Visited Mercedes-Benz first ever North American charging hub.

This is in the lot of their US headquarters so they already had the land to use (MBUSA doesn't own the plot - looks to be a land lease from the county). Looking back at Google Maps street view it appears it was just a surface parking lot behind their building so was pretty much dead space anyways.

I don't think gas stations are making "real money" on fuel either at a reported average of .03 to .07/gallon profit with many losing money on gas sales but making up for their footprint in non-gas sales. Low end of .03/gallon on my old TDI they would make a whopping 30-35 solid cents on a...

Visited Mercedes-Benz first ever North American charging hub.

This location can charge 8 cars at same time. As for the costs, I don't believe gas stations are cheap to pop up or maintain either but they are quite numerous. Can't imagine the costs of making sure your multi-thousand gallon underground tanks holding fuels don't leak and stay in good...
