    Walmart oil prices - Ah!

I like the Havoline oil and that link works. I am sure they will update the prices eventually, this is the old price. Great deal in the interim!

    Running heavier oil than spec

You can run Restore and Protect for 3-4 oil changes, or the most aggressive oil flush I have used successfully is 505 CRO by ATS Chemical. It's expensive if you don't buy it quantity, but BG makes a good oil flush too.

    Champion COS3593A in a Kia

Very true. I use the Kia/Hyundai brand filters because they are the cheapest, and I don't have my Kia dealer do oil changes. I don't use the Ford and GM dealers for oil changes either. However, the standard Ford and GM filters are also cheap. I opened up a bunch of my oil filters and I never...

    Champion COS3593A in a Kia

Kia had a TSB warning about 3rd party oil filters, I am sure that has been corrected today, but maybe not for older filters. https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/kia-oem-filter-tsb.175529/

Redline 5W-20 4k mi; Kia Forte Ex 2.0 115k mi - used oil analysis

If you want to be very precise, measure the oil that came out, including the filter change. Figure about 4 oz could be in the filter media, and put that amount back in. I know my kia v-6 says it holds 6.89 qts. 6 quarts hits sightly above the fill line on the dipstick every time. I don't worry...

Valvoline Restore and Protect 5W-30 5k mi.; '24 Ford Bronco 2.7L EB 40k mi.; Used Oil Analysis

If your wear metals are fine with the viscosity loss, you are fine. If you want more viscosity at 100C, the Castrol Edge Euro K 5-30 has it at 12, and 3.5 HTHS at a reasonable price.

Half quart oil use per 4k miles on a 100,000mi Kia 4 cylinder is excellent.

Valvoline Restore and Protect 0W-20, 1.5k mi; 2025 Sentra SV 2.0 DGI 5k miles used oil analysis

This supports the idea of frequent oil changes during break-in. You really don't want the break-in debris circulating in your engine long.

    Running heavier oil than spec

I have a 1996 S-10 with the 4300. 318,000 miles. You could run a Euro 5-30 which is a bit thicker if you like but you don't need to baby that engine, just give shorter OCI's like 5,000 or 12 months. If see any sludge, use a quality engine flush.

    KIA SP4-M rated transmission fluids?

Stick to the Kia Branded SP-4M, unless you can find one that very closely meets these viscosity and VI specs. I couldn't find an alternative in the US.

Castrol EDGE Extended Performance 5w30, 3.4k miles, 2019 Kia 3.3L V-6, used oil analysis

The severe service OCI for that Kia is 3,750, and it is under a recall that extends warranty to 180K, but they get picky on OCI to honor it. Also, I am retired, so my oil is cheap due to the fact I have the time to look up all the rebates, sales, etc. Also, getting under cars often keeps me...

What can Valvoline do to top Restore and Protect?

Local Walmart still at $29.97 in stock for local pickup and shipping.

What can Valvoline do to top Restore and Protect?

They do have innovations in motor oil, but they are primarily a brand marketing company.

Castrol EDGE Extended Performance 5w30, 3.4k miles, 2019 Kia 3.3L V-6, used oil analysis

This new report shows an oxidation value of 78 at just over 3,400 miles. Any thoughts on why? I have emailed Polaris about it but should hear back in the next few days.
