Is synthetic worth it for me?

If you use synthetics, you can go for 7 months with changing. I would rather not think about changing oil for a longer period of time unless you are like some guys who love changing their oil.

    could 15w40 cause overheating in a V10?

If you were climbing a long grade, and your coolant temp guage was nearing the red, which oil would you rather have?

How much oil does your vehicle consume between OCI..

427 c5r blocked LS1 consumes 1 qt every 1000 miles. I carry a qt of oil in my engine compartment with a funnel and keep it topped up when I get gas. I personally think adding oil is good for my 6000 mile OCI because it freshens it up.

    Changing Definition of Severe Service

Makes total sense. Towing - overheated oil Heavy Commercial Use - delivery stop and go Operating in Dusty Conditions - dirty air filter/oil Off Road Operations - dirty air filter/oil

What makes used oil turn dark?

What makes used oil turn dark?

If you put a drop of dirty oil on a white towel, you can see the carbon. It's smaller than your oil filter's capability so it goes right thru it. Unless you got a bypass filtration system, it will get darker and darker.

What Oil To Run On A Track Day - Road Course...

Keep an eye on your oil pressure guage. If it is dropping too much by getting too hot and thinning out, change the oil and increase the viscosity. Also overfill it by half a quart so you don't loose oil pressure in the turns. <small>[ June 05, 2004, 12:13 AM: Message edited by...

    Oil Pressure Question

I think your break in dino oil was thinner than the M1 you are now using. Oil pressure is not only an indication of flow, but of viscosity. Leo

Drag Racing - wear on engine?

If you go racing a lot be prepared for something to eventually break. Your car is very heavy and a lot of stress will be placed on your drivetrain. I wouldn't be surprised if you trans goes first. Your rearend can break without warning also. But your engine will unlike die if it's just stock...

My observations on Mobil1 15w50 in my 96 Saturn SL2

I observed all of your observations with Royal Purple 15w40 when I switched from Delo 400. I've been waiting to hear what other brand will give me similar results especially more power. Now that you mentioned 15w50 Mobile 1, it's going to be on my list when I go oil shopping. Leo
