Experience with aftermarket tire pressure sensors?

Thanks, it turns out all cars in the US has TPMS after 2007. The reason this question came up is because my mom called and the mechanic indicated that her rear tires are worn prematurely due to under-inflation. I was going to install an aftermarket device so she can get the warning, but I am...

Experience with aftermarket tire pressure sensors?

Hi, Anyone have experience with adding those aftermarket tire pressure sensors. They usually consists of a cap that goes on the value and solar power central unit that displays the pressure and sound an alarm for min and max. They often monitor temperature, too. 1. How accurate are they? 2. Is...

ISOBar expires after being swapped out

I have an isobar 1B-6 that I probably purchased in the early to mid 90's. I think it was only rated for 3300 Joules and had only 6 outlets, but it was built like a tank with really thick metal. It was being use for my home entertainment center. Recently, I ran out of plugs and also worry that...

Surge Protectors and whole house surge protector

The 2-3 years come from a Wirecutter article. I am no expert, so I can't verify their claim. Their explanation is that surge protectors are subject to surges through out their lifetime, so that the MOV eventually wears out. Supposedly, a 6,000 Joule surge protector will take 6,000 Joule before...

Surge Protectors and whole house surge protector

Surge Protectors only last 2-3 years. That's a lot of strips to replace and a hassle since I have to date the strip and replace them at some interval. What if I install a whole house surge protector? Would those need replacing every couple of years? If I have one, would I still get surges coming...

How do you get dealers to handle intermittent issue under warranty

There is, but review on the dealers are a bit mixed. This particular dealer started off on the wrong foot. The sales person was a pain to deal with, but this appear to be a normal experience, but I figure service department is different than the sales, so perhaps I would have a better...

But if the manufacturer stall enough, the warranty runs out and it becomes my problem.

How do you get dealers to handle intermittent issue under warranty

The issue is that they seem the video but said they can't figure it out. What I would do if I were them is to check out the connection (which I assume that have done) and tighten stuff. If that doesn't work, I would start swapping out stuff. The most likely cause is that the camera may be faulty...

How do you get dealers to handle intermittent issue under warranty

So I purchased a 2018 Mazda 3. Recently, the backup camera start to flicker and then scroll up and down. The problem is intermittent, and I have no idea how to trigger it. I did save a video of it happening on my phone. I took it to the dealer, and they said they couldn't get it to happen. Even...

Should I look for different dealer for repairs

Thanks, I am less concern about them upselling me service. I was more concern that they will be unscrupulous and start listing things that doesn't exists. I suppose if they don't do that it will be OK, but I will probably use a local mechanic for non-warranty service.

Should I look for different dealer for repairs

So I need to go to the Mazda dealer for warranty repair because my backup camera is malfunctioning. While I am there I was planning to have the oil change and tire rotated. Annoyingly, the service guy said Mazda recommend that I have the throttle body clean. The car has only 10K on it... I...

2014 Nissan Versa SV unknown 5W-30, oil is 5624 mile. Car mileage 8196 miles

Gene, I agree with you. I just wasn't sure how nit picky a dealer would be. I have not actually use warranty repairs in the past, just TBL's. Your description actually matches how the car is being used right now, except that I have convince the driver to drive it on the highway every few weeks...

2014 Nissan Versa SV unknown 5W-30, oil is 5624 mile. Car mileage 8196 miles

Thanks, keep in mind that the manual said 6 months or 5,000 miles for an oil change. Because Nissan extended the warranty of the CVT, I am trying to maintain the 6 months schedule for now in case we need to use the warranty. In addition, because the car is subjected to low milage driving, so...

2014 Nissan Versa SV unknown 5W-30, oil is 5624 mile. Car mileage 8196 miles

Here's an updated oil analysis after 6 months of driving: The car is driving short distance and is following the manufacturer's recommended schedule of 5,000 miles or every 6 months. Because we won't reach 5,000 miles in 6 months, we are changing it every 6 months. Does the result above raise...
