    "High end" oil filters

This was posted on another website also discussing this (but certainly not to the level here): Amsoil EA 15K32 20 micron Wix 51042 10 micron However the Wix stated it captures more 10-12 micron particles than other cellulose/synthetic blend medias. Not that it had 10 micron mesh.

    "High end" oil filters

No prob, I did it to answer my own questions and thought it'd be a shame to not show others interested in cars & things like us all. I kinda expected a bit of criticizing, we all have our opinions and experiences. I know very well that's how it is on internet forums. I've done my share of oil...

Pajamarama, if I see one I'll buy it and open it up. Green box, blue filter.

    "High end" oil filters

Yessir, the Fram had the plastic thing in the spring, same as shows in their illustration. I was more interested in the filter media than anything else. The basics of why I did this was to simply show what's inside these filters-which I haven't seen anybody else do. So many people cut filters...

    "High end" oil filters

To create this filter comparison, I consulted a friend of mine who is a distribution manager for one of the brands noted here. I again consulted him about the bypass spring to clarify it's use and description. Yes, it does hold everything together. It also allows the filter element to shift...

Again friends, I'm not saying the Fram Ultra is bad-I'd use it without reservation.

    "High end" oil filters

I believe you that the Fram website says that. I've read what the Fram website says. The one I have is a single layer. Let's compare the photo of the one I opened for examination to the photo from Fram's website. See any difference?

    "High end" oil filters

Well this garnered some responses! The purpose of this was to show the filters on the market today with the better synthetic media and how they're constructed. I've re-examined the Fram Ultra, it's just a single layer. Not necessarily a bad thing. I can't see any difference between the M1...

    "High end" oil filters

I’ve decided to do a “high end” oil filter comparison for automotive style filters. High end meaning filters with a synthetic filter media. The contenders are: -Fleetguard with Stratapore media; -Amsoil Ea; -Royal Purple; -Wix XP; -Fram Ultra. I’ve also included two “standard, off the shelf”...

NAPA (and CarQuest) filters were made by Wix and are now becoming Baldwin made.

    Did I buy counterfeit filters?

Ahh. I do pro sound and there are speakers called "MLA" and they're considered touring speakers.

    Did I buy counterfeit filters?

Having said all this, I'd like to state that I'm obviously pretty anal about my oil and oil filters (which is why we're all here?). My goal is to use on all my vehicles the old school size that matches ACDelco's PF35, which is a fat & tall big block filter. Eventually, my truck will have a...
