    CTS-V engine oil - LSA

Thanks guys! I'm loving the Vagon...well worth having to eat off the dollar menu for the next several years. Always wanted a super fast wagon with a manual trans, and Cadillac hit the nail on the head with this car. Though just personal preference based on how other vehicles have run on various...

    CTS-V engine oil - LSA

Picked up a new '14 cts-v wagon a few weeks ago, and have been thinking of what oil to run. It comes with free oil changes every 6-7k with Dexos syn-blend, but definitely going to run a stouter oil in this car (will collect & use the dexos stuff in my work truck). Going to use Pennzoil Ultra...

    Raising 87 octane to 91?

I also have a v8 Dodge...a 2008 1500 4x4 4.7 6spd, which is rated at 12 city & 16 hwy...I average about 13mpg in this thing. The Ram SRT is rated at 9 city & 15 hwy, so imagine it wouldn't do much worse. But since there is no way practical way to bump 87 to 91, it's no longer an option. 40k+...

    Raising 87 octane to 91?

Nice link...thanks for all the input guys. Clearly it would not be practical to boost 87 octane to 91, so nothing that requires 91 would suffice as a work truck. Ecoboost wouldn't work for lack of a manual transmission, which is the only 100% mandatory requirement for me. I really like the new...

    Raising 87 octane to 91?

This is not "free fuel" by any means...we still have to pay for it (family business). But the fuel is run through the business because it is only used in work vehicles, and we only have 3 storage tanks (red diesel for tractors, clear diesel for the service truck & haulers, and 87 octane for the...

    Raising 87 octane to 91?

Wow, at the aforementioned 1 gallon of toluene to 7 gallons of gas (is this the correct ratio?), that works out to about $2 addlitional per gallon, which far exceeds a reasonable cost to turn 87 into 91. Never mind...

    Raising 87 octane to 91?

Not looking to do anything illegal or to compromise the emissions equipment on the vehicle. Is toluene legal & safe to use? What is the approximate cost?

    Raising 87 octane to 91?

Been searching for a while, but haven't found a definitive answer. Is there any practical way to raise 87 octane gas with OTC additives to 91 octane? I work on a ranch, and have 87 octane gas available to me for my work truck. Been thinking of getting a new, more fun work truck before long...

    Oil for '92 wrangler 4.0?

Thanks guys. Reason for the Delo 15w40 is we use that stuff in our tractors, and it's essentially free to me. We do also have a generic synthetic blend 10w30, but I believe it is an "energyy conserving" oil and I thought it too thin for this motor. Would it be wise to run a mix of the Delo &...

    Oil for '92 wrangler 4.0?

I will be picking up a "new to me" '92 wrangler renegade 4.0 5spd in a week or so. Engine has 140k miles and runs great, but with unknown service history. Appears to have a slow seep at the valve cover gasket (and possibly rear of cylinder head) but nothing to really worry about. Would Delo...

    Mixing synthetics?

Agreed...Redline is the ambrosia of the oil world. I'm even thinking of buying a couple cases for the BMW, and even using 1qt per change as an additive in the other vehicles. I have yet to come across a better "all around" oil than Mobil 1 0w40, since Redline is overkill for most applications...

    Mixing synthetics?

The M1 15w50 and 5w40 tdt are for use in my '97 MB and '84 BMW. The M1 0w40 works great in my 4.7L during the busy & hot summer months around the orchards, and gives me peace of mind with such high tbn for extended intervals (8k) under severe conditions. I also use this stuff in my cousins' 2006...

    Mixing synthetics?

I generally use a thick 30wt (M1 0w40 or German Castrol) in the summer months because the truck sees very severe duty in hot & dusty conditions. This engine doesnt really like anything thicker, and even the GC was a bit thick so I generally use the 0w40 now. Guess I'll go with mobil 1...
