I'd test a few more samples before panicking about anything. You started that sample at 10,000 miles, which is still within the break-in period (IMO). If this sample was after the 20,000 mile mark (from start), then I'd definitely try another oil.

I wouldn't use (or stress about) any particle count until at minimum 10,000 miles on a Ford motor. They seem to take this long to break in.

Well, this stuff was for a long time semi-synthetic and then magically became full synthetic. Maybe they changed and released the formula before they got the SN+ "approval"? I'll dig up one of the bottles tomorrow and post some pics.

I've cut open 4 or 5 FL-500's and one was torn. I posted it here in early 2018 I think. The UOA I did on that oil cycle didn't show any obvious problems, so I'm not convinced a failed filter here and there presents any long term problems. At least from the failure modes we've seen so far. All...

First sample with Castrol Magnatec. Oil is 5W-30, full synthetic (old formula; not SN+). I've shifted gears from my previous testing and now plan to run the oil until my OLM gets to 20%. Oil was run for 6,811 miles over 153 days. It ran for 251 hours, including 61 at idle (24%). OLM was at...

    Fram Ultra XG10575 C&P - 6,811 miles

Engine is the 3.5 EB. OLM was at 18%, which is the lowest I've ever gone. Oil analysis will be posted in a few weeks once it arrives.

Castrol Magnatec 5W-30 drained; Fram Ultra Removed. Same oil and filter put back on/in.

    Fram Ultra XG10575 C&P - 6,811 miles

Pretty boring...No burrs, cuts, wonky pleats or rattles. 6,811 miles over 251 hours is nothing for these filters. The one I just installed on my truck will be on for two oil changes.

Great to see an amazing report from an EB getting up on the miles. Plus with the new MC oil. Your wear is much less than any of the six samples I've posted here.

    MC FL-500S CUT OPEN

Nice, thanks for the C&P. Any chance you're doing a UOA on the oil? Very curious to see what a top tier oil looks like 1,000 miles past the OLM. My guess is it will look great...but fun to see the data.
