Have 9 gallons sitting in the garage, looks like others have received theirs as well. I got mine on Amazon. Going into my truck soon, just need time to do it. It does smell pretty odd compared to normal atf.
Not this weekend, but next weekend I'll probably tackle the fluid and filter change.
I did replace the atf4 in my power steering with the Valvoline Restore and Protect atf about 400 miles ago and it's been fine. Needed to change it anyway and I thought I'd try it out before committing it to...
Good advice, thanks! I did pick up a Dorman pan with a drain which looks like identical to your pan. Valvoline does list it as +4 compatible on the sheet so I will give it a try. Like you say if it causes problems I can simply drain it out.
Sorry, new to this site and not up to speed on the lingo. I assume EP is extended protection and RP is restore and protect. I have a 545rfe and 3 gallons of the new Valvoline Restore and Protect ATF. if you say the O'Reilly universal works in the 545rfe then that gives me some confidence to go...
Mine is 16 years old so no warranty, but even with confirmation from valvoline that it is atf 4 compatible I'm still sort of leery of using it. I have 3 gallons of it in my garage but can't work up the nerve to use it. I don't want to be the first guinea pig to the experiment 😂
I posted the full vehicle compatibility list for Valvoline Restore and Protect atf that I got from valvoline, but it is waiting for moderator approval for some reason. It looks like it has quite comprehensive coverage. Hopefully the post is approved soon so you can all see it.
