I picked up 3 more 5L jugs of Valvoline Restore and Protect 5W-30... up here in Canada it's 52.99 plus tax at Canadian Tire and 58.99 at Walmart. It's rare CT can beat Walmart on price. Very new stock as the stores around me were sold out last I checked 3 days ago. Made June 17th 2026. Wonder if...
That is pretty wild, and while I do not have a picture handy. I can 100% confirm that during the Covid Insanity, that same jug in CT retailed for $99.99 It was the older Titanium brew, but it's price went through the roof... I have faith prices will stabilize and retreat a bit in the next 24 months.
I can say Walmart Canada Valvoline Restore and Protect went from (CAD prices) 49.99 to 58.88 Also all Supertech Synthetic that was 28.88 is now 34.88
Happy I stocked up before the madness hit!
This too shall pass. However I am grateful I lucked out and bought 39qts of Amsoil before the initial price increase. But it has to be rough on most blenders that are not the big boys on the Walmart shelf.

When I bought the car I asked the parts department what quantity it comes in and what it cost. They said 4L containers and $95ish cost wise. Mind you this is Canada and our weak $ prices. They never mentioned an availability problem...
It only hold 400ml/0.4 quarts. That isn't a huge amount and it will then be heavily diluted by the new oil. Do you really think I should change he filter too?
I actually bought that on sale, before the Amsoil. I ended up returning it because they weren't JASO GLV-1 licensed. Otherwise if they had been that would have stayed in the garage.
That is a very good point. And thank you for your input. Unfortunately before the monster almost 1100km drive, I won't go on any long enough trips to get a good enough idea of the oil temps. I am just gonna up it to 16 to be on the safe side with extreme summer hear and high rpm mountain...
I actually bought some Amsoil Hybrid 0W-8 it was literally 50% of the price of a quart of Toyota 0W-8. I bought it just before prices were adjusted with the surcharge. So literally 2 quarts of Amsoil or 1 quart of Toyota. It is JASO GLV-1 licensed, and was very, very affordable compared to...
Recently traded in my 2018 Prius Prime, which was a dependable car through and through. The only reason I traded up was because there were some very healthy Toyota Red Flag Day deals coupled with a Canadian Federal rebate that basically made it a no brainer for me.
This 2026 revision year...
