I agree with OP, looks like it was serviced exclusively with Castrol (grp 3) oil. Moving forward, I'd step it up to a PAO oil and moniter the varnish. Who knows, it might prevent/slow future leaks from occuring?

I'd also change it. Seems almost foolish to leave it stored with acidic fluid in the engine.

Yes, generally all cars sit lower than SUVs and trucks. Just part of their design.
