I suggest running them longer than mentioned in the owners manual (clearly that's what you want to do anyway, so who are we to convince you otherwise?). If the coils/cats fail, then you have your answer.

+1 I agree on the 3k OCI's, especially with high octane (premium). Most of those teardowns were likely on engines run hard with regular fuel - high possibility they were rental/fleet vehicles.

💯 Somewhere there's someone making piles of money off of the current setup. That's all anyone needs to know. Hsa been happening for years. Only since COVID has it become rampant.

This is more of an issue since Covid and declining vehicle inventory. Before this, you could reserve anything and get almost anything you wanted. These days, I only rent full sized "cars". That way, if they try squeezing me into anything else, it's usually an SUV.
