basically, the vehicle was rolled offroad and lost about 1 quart oil trhur the filler cap/pvc and manifold. The intake was sefoamed to remove oil that got into the intake manifold. the oil was also changed
Runs Ok, was wondering why #3 would be so different and the significance of the fuel...
4.0L jeep 6 cyl. 180k, probably less than 20k on the plugs & 30k on the wires & cap. Seafomed thru the carb before changing.
#6 was leaking oil fom the outside. #4 smells like gas.
yeah i think the fluid gets too hot which i causing the shearing. i have the trans cooler as noted, but i think i might need a bigger one. although it is about 12"x10" plate stlye cooler located infront of clutch fan which should be more than enough
got results back. looked pretty good everything below normal. will post results this afternoon.
silicone was a little high? i used RTV gasket maker (rated for trans fluid) on the trans pan, would this cause high silicone numbers?
aw4 is made by asin warner, thankfully a non chrysler/dodge/crap transmission. it was originally spec'd for DexII
chrysler/dodge transmissions use ATF3/4
i had a 42re in my grand cherokee, which lasted about 120k and started spitting out brass thrust washers at about 90k
couple pics from last yr's diff rebuild
changed the diff fluid on the new gearset after 700 miles ,for break in i was running 80w-90 RP
i think that baffle got slightly nicked when pinion bearings were pressed on, has not been a problem
i would run some dino or cheap synthetic 75w-90 for 500 miles break in (there will be a good amount of break in metals), then switch to 75w-140 royal purple or redline syntetic.
i am running 75w-140 *might be 80w-140 or something, i forget exactly) redline in my 8.8 in south louisiana
