Question on Time-Based Interval for Brake Replacement

I did the fluid swap last summer. It was fairly easy.

Question on Time-Based Interval for Brake Replacement

My 2015 Chevy Traverse has about 75,000 miles on it with the OEM brakes. It was built in December 2014. It sees a lot of city and some highway miles. So far the amount of pad material looks Ok, but I wanted to see if there was any knowledge of a time-based replacement interval. Any constructive...

    Dexron VI

I had a 2011 Equinox and can relate. Based on the bulletin the GM dealer gave me at the time (around 2013), there are some coatings on parts in the transmission that will turn the fluid dark. However, the chemical properties (e.g. protection, lubrication, etc) are not affected by the color...

    Autel MP808K

I just picked up an Autel MP808K from Amazon the other day. This thing is pretty darn cool. It scans all the modules in the car, has bi-directional control, allows for integration into TeamViewer for control on a PC away from the vehicle and will do some basic TPMS and key fob programming. I'm...

    AGM Question

I put an AGM in my Traverse last without any programming. Things have been good so far. I noticed that the alternator drops down to 12V a lot more often now.

which weather site is most accurate?

National Weather Service has the best overall package. I've grown particularly fond of this page: https://forecast.weather.gov/MapCli...cal&lat=41.495210&lon=-94.123756 . Just enter the lat/lon of your point of interest with your NWS office (mine is DMX), and you can get some pretty good data.

How does this PC build look?

Personally I would want a separate SSD for the OS and an additional HDD for backup for the type of work you do. You could easily set up batch files to create back-ups on the HDD every week or so and then unmount the drive when finished. That may save you in the event of something like a...

    How bad is this cracking?

Those cracks are superficial at this point, but I would be inspecting every 6 months with that rate of deterioration. Is the car stored around any electric motors or other sources of ozone?

    Old tires squealing and fishtailing

The Bridgestones I just pulled off our Traverse did exactly that. At 7/32" they had near zero grip in snow and would skip on wet roads.

Turtle Wax released a full ceramic product line - hybrid solutions

I plan on buying these and trying them out after winter. My plan is to try the polish and spray ceramic coating first and see how it evolves from there.

What is my OCI is like now

I had a similar commute. I did 20% less than the severe service interval with synthetic (PP, QSUD, M1) and never had a problem at 85,000 even with an engine that was known to burn oil and grenade. The engine never burnt a drop of oil, and I had no issues. It meant some 2,500 mile oil changes...

Anybody Run A Different Winter Oil ?

There is some merit to this coming back for engines that are not spec'ed a 0w oil. Check out this excerpt from the 2019 Silverado Owner's Manual. Quote Viscosity Grade Use SAE 0W-20 viscosity grade engine oil for the 5.3L and 6.2LV8 engines. Use SAE 5W-30 viscosity grade engine oil for the...

    What's a good all-around wax that's durable?

I put TW Seal and Shine on my work car. It sits outside 24/7, and it lasted for about 2.5 months based on the water beading alone. Water is still sheeting off the paint and beading in spots though.
