2002 Corvette Z06 what oil to use?

GM 4178M was the spec in 2002. Pretty much about SG/CD & GF-1 in 5 & 10w-30 oils. Most likely any SL/ GF-3 5w-30 conventional of that era would have sufficed. The Mobil 1 (synthetic) phase shortly followed. Patman even had a thread started on Christmas Day about this, way back when...

    Stepping down an SAE grade

Uh, from a 5w-40 to a 0w-5 is "a grade or two"...? Well, IMHO 5w-30 would be one that might work...? Or a 0w-40 might even be an upgrade. Or the 0w-30's are usually pretty good oils, highly rated..? But what about a 5w-20...? What's that HEAVY 40 WEIGHT spec in there for, anyway? Maybe a...

    Subaru 2.5 Change Interval

Frankly, I would be more concerned about the use of a 5w-30 oil in a vehicle (no longer under warranty, but WHO CARES?) that calls for a 0w-20? Our 2nd Subaru, a 2014 Outback (same motor) called for 0w-20. Never used a drop between changes. Nor any consumption in the 2017, nor does it have...

What has happened to the SEARCH function, anyway?

What has happened to the SEARCH function, anyway?

How can a SEARCH for Mobil 1 get no (ZERO, zilch, nada, etc.) hits....? P.S. Really looking for Mobil 1 Full Synthetic Extended Performance but I figured that was too much to hope for?

    Older battery chargers

Boy, I don't think I've ever posted on THIS forum.. Anyway, have a couple old Schumacher 6v/12v chargers: 2 & 6 amp, Manual or "automatic" settings, amp meter, full metal cases, etc. They have always worked fine for me over the decades, ever since I bought my 1st Battery Tender, Jr. I've...

Think my 14 Outback can go 20k on Amsoil sig?

Hmmm... Wonder how long it takes to pull the sample for the UOA and proce$$ vs. a 10 minute oil & filter change? This, already knowing that changing the oil & filter each 10K works, in every sense of the term. Fishing must be very good! I just started fishing again (after a 15 year hiatus)...

Ford 351M or 400M, what does the 'M' stand for?

The "M" stood for MILQUETOAST, as in "Casper..."!

    Upset with RockAuto

Actually, my only real beef with RockAuto is when the cost to send the core back to them exceeds the core charge... Brake calipers come to mind. I ONLY buy items with no core charges attached.

    Chicago Violence And DUI's...

I have not been on this Forum for a while: how did such an obviously "political topic" ever get by the thought police? I'm not complaining, BTW. It's about time that some rational thought is allowed, especially about those innocent "urban kids" MURDERING EACH OTHER!

2014 Subaru Crosstek Oil & Filter Recommendations & Experiences

The X7055 is certainly the way to go in my 2014 Outback 2.5, especially when the WIX/Napa is available as a N/C option in an oil change special deal. 5 qts. of almost ANY 0W-20 + a X7055 in the $22 range is quite the deal, IMHO. Cheers!

Is Subaru now an after thought company?

IMHO the 2014 Outback we bought last Summer was absolutely the best combination of quality, capability & value out there. As for Subaru being an "after thought company", everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but... Just take a look at their sales figures, the number of twenty+ year-old...
