    Factory Fill - 2003 Xterra V6 - 2500 miles on Engine/oil

Just got my UOA back from oilguard on my 2003 Xterra V6. I changed out the factory oil at 2500 miles and took a baseline sample for future comparisons. Don't know if this really means anything at this point in the engines life, but thought it might be interesting none-the-less. NickB [...

    Specs for Honda OEM filter

Jay, it sounds like you got the Canadian version of the Honda/Fram filter. It DOES have the cardboard endcaps and is pretty much the same as the 7317. The US made Honda/Filtech 15400-P0H-305 is being discontinued but is still available for a short time and is a great filter. The new Honda/Fram...

    Specs for Honda OEM filter

There are at least three current part numbers for honda OEM filters available in the US. One is the Fram made filter (15400-PLM-A01), the other is the US made filtech (15400-P0H-305), and the third is the Japanese Toyo Ruki filter (15400-PCX-004). There is a fourth OEM filter made by Fram for...

    Havoline Synthetic 10w-30

Drew, How do we really now what we are seeing here? Is it possible that the results come from the different group types or additive packages used by each oil, it would see that way to me? I think a bigger sampling of oils would be required to what is really taking place here, and I'm sure...

    Bilstein Engine Flush

I just read where the Japanese are starting to adopt the US management style and practices (except for Honda), so maybe in a year or two the comparison will be a valid one. NickB

Any close-up photos of Wix bypass?

Ordered the 15400-PCX-004 from hparts.com S2000 filter at hparts I ordered a bunch of the Honda ATF and the filters but shipping wasn't bad at all. NickB

Any close-up photos of Wix bypass?

Great post TC, can we now agree that the Wix is a good filter for Honda's even though it looks small. Take a look at the filter area for the honda OEM japanese filter, 169 sq inches, very nice. In fact, I just ordered 6 of the new Honda S2000 filters (which fit almost all the other honda models...

    Specs for Honda OEM filter

My only reservation with the bosch was the bypass valve setting and the fact they filter down to 15 micron, which might cause some restriction if using in extended drain intervals. It would be interesting to see the honda oem vs. a champion labs filter on bob's used filter flow test.

    Bilstein Engine Flush

I think a two dollar bottle of nuetra would do the same thing, plus you'd have a few ounces left over to pour into the gas tank With that said, I have read on one of the Acura forums that people have been happy with the results. However, I think that with either the Schaeffer's product, or...

Fuel system cleaners - use in new car?

Terry (or anyone else for that matter), Can you elaborate on not overtreating with Neutra? I thought you were supposed to put a whole 12oz. bottle in the tank before fillup. However, I see conflicting reports on it's usage and am confused. Is there a specific amount to be used for maintenence...

    Specs for Honda OEM filter

Ah! You've found the exact info I have been looking for, good job! This info kind of backs up my thoughts on OEM filters and their recommended extended drain intervals (E.G. between 5K and 10K miles). It seems car manufacturers are specifying oil and filter change intervals of around 7500...

    Confused about schaeffer's drain interval...

Thanks guys, I'll dump the oil this weekend and then put the schaeffer's in after a few more thousand miles have racked up. Nick
