2025 Toyota Rav4 personal engine oil struggle.

Not really. HPL is still more expensive

    Minimum Speed Requirement

If you can't drive the speed limit, you shouldn't be driving anymore. Please talk to your family, and get some help.

    Minimum Speed Requirement

I hate slow drivers. They block the road, inconveniencing other people. A few weeks back, there was some old man driving 10-15mph under the speed limit, on a 35mph road. People were going crazy behind, doing stupid things themselves, to get around the idiot. I was tempted to call 911 and...

Oil Choice For New Honda 3.5L

Some years back I knew some guys working at Nissan's Decherd engine plant. I forgot where they sourced the oil, but I do know that they occasionally changed based on price. Contract comes up, out for bid, lowest bidder wins. Even further back, before Nissan sold oil to dealers/customers...

Oil Choice For New Honda 3.5L

Given the short change interval, short trip usage, I'd use whatever 0W-20 you prefer. Kirkland would be fine, as will other oils. My suggestion to stay thin is based on the short trip usage. You could bump to 30 weight in summer, before your long trips, but I don't think it's necessary.

store owner fires warning shot to scare off would-be robbers

One good thing, Anaheim is in Orange County, and the DA there doesn't pull punches. The old (soft on crime) LA County DA, Gascon, got kicked to the curb during reelection, and a tougher guy got elected there too. Hopefully, this store owner, won't get hassled for protecting his property.

Supertech and other value point oils

I can appreciate that an oil like Amsoil SS is "better" than kirkland/supertech, but unless running extended drain intervals, I'm not convinced it will protect or clean better (engines with known to stick rings, excluded) in an engine being properly maintained. And if the person is like a lot...

Briggs & Straton OHV Plastic Engine No Compression

What does the cam look like? Plastic lobes? Any wear?

Supertech and other value point oils

Clearly, there are some engines that are prone to sticking rings, even when proper maintenance is performed. And VRP is helping clean up at least some of these engines. That oil is designed for this sort of thing. But how does this relate to value point oils? Would a Hyundai Theta engine gum...

Supertech and other value point oils

Interesting choice of words, calling the most common oil standards in the country, by far, "minimum standard".

    Whataburger versus In-N-Out

I'll take In-N-Out over Five Guys or Habbit. Boutique burgers will always win the day, over chains. There is a "Burger City Grill" in my area, and it puts all those to shame. It's a good bit more expensive, though.

    Pentius PLXL 7317 C&P 5k miles

The exact same thing happened to me. In my case, I bought from the Amazon Warehouse, thinking I could save a few bucks more. Returned those, and reordered, from regular stock, and received the proper filters the second time.

So using an oil that meets API SP and ILSAC GF-6A is "stooping?"

Supertech and other value point oils

How many miles are you running the oil in your Harley? Sounds like big miles between changes. Ha ha...You do you! As Lake Jr always says, usage dictates chemistry (or something to that effect). You best run that expensive botique oil.
