I am not an oil expert, but in looking for a good oil for my suburban, I discovered that the specifications listed on the product data sheet for the Q 4x4/SUV made by Quaker State are as good or better than any other Semi Syn. Specifically the GM 4718 Corvette High Tem Spec. I havent...
Blackstone called and explained they had a calibration problem on their spectrometer that affected calcium only. They did not have the sample to re-run; however based upon a re run of amother sample they estimated the actual should be 46% of the original VOA. The revised VOA is:

Blackstone Labs has identified they had a calibration problem with their spectrometer that affected calcium only. They re-ran my sample. The revised UOA is below:
Aluminum 5 2
Chromium 1 1
Iron 7 14
Copper 0 0
Lead 0 0
Tin 0 0
Moly 384 46
Potassium 1 0
Boron 24 6
Silicon 12 15
Sodium 3 3...
That confirms it...I am nuts for being a BITOG fanatic...OK!
So, since I now know that I am a kook, does anyone want to help me find the best oil for my 2004 Suburban that I want to last forever or at least until everything falls apart except the engine? I bet the Chevy 5.3L will be a desired...

The GTX is thicker and the SYNTEC is thinner than the Havoline @100C. The lead was lower and the iron higher with the SYNTEC vs the GTX. These numbers are so close I dont see any relevant correlation that supports thick/thin for this engine. In fact, I am struggling with the correct...
Guys.....I am a relative newbie here. Was somewhat skeptical of the UOA and Dyson analysis services. However I can say that the UOA and Terry's services make up the best $40 I ever spent on an automobile. If you have never done the full analysis, try it once. You will be pleasantly amazed.

Is yours the Q? or the regular Quaker State? Very interested to see how your VOA comes out.
I bought this oil because the VOA posting on here for the Quaker State 4x4/SUV 5W-30 looked AWESOME and I am now very disappointed that this is not the same stuff.
I think the other VOA posting...
I was surprised this VOA doesn't look anything like the 5W-30 Quaker State 4x4/SUV. Loads of Calcium and thats about it. I have this is my suburban now and wonder if I should dump it ASAP.

I re checked the Blackstone report. Calcium is listed as 3653.
One funny thing though. I had a VOA of Q 4x4/SUV 10W-30 (to use in my Suburban) done the same time calcium is listed at 4187. I thought that was very high.
Maybe Blackstone has something causing excessive calcium readings?
