Marine fuel filter - mystery crud

False alarm. Cut open my filter today and discovered minimal sediment and the mystery gunk was in fact adhesive for the pleats.

Marine fuel filter - mystery crud

I have easy access to the fuel gauge sending unit and can be peering in the tank in short order. I could use my Harbor Freight handheld suction pump with straw to draw some gasoline from the bottom of the tank. Offseason I will leave the tank half full with a good dose of Stabil fuel...

I will divulge more about the crud on Monday after the Rivian delivery van presents cardboard offerings to the porch.

Marine fuel filter - mystery crud

Engine is a Marine Power 350 Vortec with about 250hrs. I bought the boat a few years ago from the second owner who used the boat but didn’t maintain it with love. Adhesive for Stainless Screws in HDPE

It’s only 3/4 thick and the surface is raised dots/antiskid. Would be tough but not impossible. I’ll keep that in mind for plan C. ;)

Adhesive for Stainless Screws in HDPE

I ordered some Loctite 770 primer and some 425 from Grainger. I'll give it a try and report back on the results. Thanks!

Adhesive for Stainless Screws in HDPE

I built a swim platform for my Sea Ray and used King Starboard(HDPE) for the decking material with a 304 stainless structure. I didn't want any visible fasteners so I tried using #12 Stainless wood screws from the underneath into the bottom of the deck. Overtime, these screws slowly work...

    Post your latest oil change

It was an inexpensive synthetic used in a low demand application. Luckily the engine didn’t spin enough revolutions to realize it was fed an oil that wasn’t officially MB certified. 😆 I should be safe now.
